Police seized bike on motorway (CBT)

During my usual cruise alobg the m62 today i ended up getting my bike seized.

Pulled in at the services for a coffee and i noticed a traffic patrol car parked up. The prick waited for nearly 30 minutes for me to leave the service station. He then followed me onto the 62 and flashed me after a few minutes

He asked me why i had no L plates and why i was on the motorway. I said someone nicked my Ls and that i ended up accidentally on the motorway because of the sat nav re routing.

He said you could have asked me for help at the services and i wouldn't of seized your bike (yeah right lol).

Anyways he seemed to be under the impression that rodong without Ls was the same offense as driving on a motorway. He said i can npt charge you twice with the same offense. He said he thinks that the likely outcome will be 3 points.

Now according to my calculations it should be 3 + 3 + 3 totaling 9 points?

Also wtf did you expect to happen with no Ls and "rodong" on a motorway with just a CBT? How can you be that bait and not expect to get pulled I don't normally like police, but how can you expect anyone not to side with the copper?

There isn't much in the way of advice that can be offered here. Pay the shit and don't do it again so blatantly maybe?

In the unlikely event OP IS this dumb (given previous history). You won't be riding or driving for a while once they've finished with you. Evben if you don't reach a totting up ban with your curtrent raft of fuckwittery, you'll have some pretty choice penatly codes for insurance companies to go to town on. Best get yourself a push bike.

He is correct in that you are riding otherwise than in accordance with your licence, in more than one particular. (although I'm not sure if they can do you for all of them similtaneously).

He has no option other than to seize your bike once you were on the motorway. He can't allow you to ride any further on the motorway because you don't have a licence to do so. Only other option for an L-plater on a motorwayis to get someone else (who is insured on it) to ride it off for you.

You weren't actually comitting an offence by being in the motorway services on a provisional (L-plate offence aside). Motorway regs end at the top of the slip road and it's not unusual for there to be a back entrance from local roads for services/hotel staff to come in on. So it could be he was giving you the benefit of the doubt, which it turns out you didn't deserve.

How did the policeman know to pull you over for riding without L plates? Surely it wouldn't be until they checked the licence that they would find out you didn't have the entitlement?
Or do they just tug every 125 they see on the motorway, since the likelihood is they are L-platers pushing their luck?

He was right to seize it. You know fine well you don't have a license entitling you to be on the motorway. He's right, both the L plates and the motorway use come under the same offence - S87 RTA 1988 - both contraventions committed wilfully it seems.

It's true that the cop couldn't know who was riding it and therefore couldn't confirm your license privileges until stopped but he didn't need any reason to stop you other than the fact that you were driving a motor vehicle on a road. This is therefore irrelevant.

You committed an offence, deliberately, and got caught. Stop whinging, go pay the fees and get your bike back and go sit your test so you can ride the motorway legitimately.
