So earlier today, I tried to pull into a tight space near the office and gave up as the parking sensors we going mad before I even got in, so the bay was too short. I saw a van pull out of a parking space further down the road so pulled out and used that.
A couple of minutes later, as I'm buying a ticket, a small Nepalese fella comes storming over to me claiming I damaged his car. It seemed odd as I never felt any contact and my sensors had not reached a solid beep before it was obvious the space was too tight.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went back to his car with him to look at the supposed damage. He points to a tiny blemish on the front of his bonnet, way too high to be another car reversing into it. I explained it was too high, so he points at a stone chip on the lower offside valence, which I pointed out had already been touched up.
He has 2 more small Nepalese people in the car with him who don't speak English but apparently witnessed me damage their car.
I decided to show the bloke the damage (which was barely noticeable) was too high to be a car reversing in, so got the only thing I could think of, a cable in my bag, and measured the height to this blemish at the top of his bonnet, then told him to come with me to my car to show him the height of my bumper. It was around 10cm too high for my car to have caused it.
He was having none of it and kept harping on about his witnesses and how he knows his car and that damage was not there. I kept asking him to measure it himself, he kept ignoring me. After trying to explain it was impossible about 10 times, I ended up going into one of the buildings around and borrowed a tall box from a photocopier part to use to measure up.
Again, I showed him my bumper (which was ideal as the top of the box was almost exactly where the top of my bumper is, at which point the car goes in 10cm to the boot, so the top of the bumper is by far the furthest out point.
Back to his car and the box falls short of the supposed damage by at least 10cm. He still wont listen and by now has a Romanian lorry driver, who had just appeared, way after the time of the supposed incident, backing them up.
I didn't have insurance docs in the car and was late for a job, so gave him my mobile number on a piece of paper, whilst he was apparently phoning the police and explained I don't have time for this and left on foot.
The question is, do I inform my insurer and show them the photo's where it was impossible that I caused the slight damage, or just wait and see what happens?

And here is the supposed damage which Kent Police need to get involved in. It's in the bonnet lip in the middle.

Foreigners trying to scam mpd72
Julio is going to laugh his cotton socks off!
As to the 'crash'. In a carpark, no one hurt. Fuck off springs to mind.
Just keep the pictures incase plod do come round. (They won't unless said Nepalese said you were racist to them ) ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

That's on the road by looks of it, not that it makes much odds. |
Local Pay and Display Parking bays in a sort of layby.
Nothing heard yet and he was still there on the phone half an hour later.
I suspect the two elderly family members in the car decided I'd made contact and told him to look for any damage. It was quite clear one was an old stone chip as it had already been touched up, the other on the bonnet is an odd one, it was definitely not at the right height for a car, nor was it dented in.
It was tiny and if anything looked like something pushed it out from inside as the bonnet was shut.
I was more annoyed that, after proving it was impossible for my car to have caused it, measuring and showing him twice, with two different objects, he still wouldn't listen.
If he calls, I'll provide insurance but make sure they understand that it was physically impossible for my bumper to cause a tint dent in his bonnet lip. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

I had a similar incident once, a woman left a note on my LR Discovery that I bashed into her Vauxhall Astra smashing it to pieces, her number was on the piece of paper and a request to call her 'if I had the balls to'.
Well I have and I did.
She came back to see me and pulled up on the opposite side of the road and started screeching at me for 10 minutes about how she had just had the car 'prepared' for her holiday and how I nearly killed her daughter who was sitting in the car at the time of the 'incident' and how her holiday would now be wrecked as the car would need to go back to the garage to be fixed up before my dangerous parking maneuver etc etc.
After the non breathe rant I asked her to show me the damage, well after a couple of minutes of her showing various different dents and scratches on the rear of her immaculate 1995 Astra I simply replied
" when I backed into the space your car was facing forward........"
Her daughter confirmed this, she went bright red got in her car and fucked off.......................Insurance scammer caught out by her own daughter who she forgot to groom first!!!! ____________________ Current Bikes: VFR 800Fi 1998 & CB250N Superdream 1981 |

I would have ignored the plicks and let them do what they want. It's clearly a lie. Schumm. |
I've heard nothing since.
What annoyed me the most was how even after proving it was impossible for me to have caused the dent, he wouldn't give up. The damage is actually just a tiny chip on the curved part of the bonnet lip, the lines are just the light. It was already rusty, so clearly not new. Much like the other chip he tried to pass off, which also had touch up paint already applied to it.
There appears to be lot of this in Nepalese culture. They never give up, even when blatantly wrong. It may make them good soldiers, but it makes them arseholes to deal with in real life.
We have a lot around where I live as the barracks in Folkestone was for the Gurkha regiment, so Kent has become the place where most settle, with many business ran by Gurkha industries. (who only employ Nepalese people, but apparently dodge racial discrimination laws somehow).
I was in an office of a customers last year. He does Mortgages for people who would struggle with the high street lenders. This Nepalese family came in to go through some of the paperwork, part of which was bringing in a passport for proof of ID.
The passport that was shown, was clearly not that of the bloke pretending it was and the picture was of someone at least 20 years OLDER. My customer pointed this out and said he couldn't accept it as ID. The argued the toss for almost 10 minutes before being told to leave. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

And now my insurer have been informed and are on the case.
He's claiming whiplash for the 2 passengers he thinks were in the vehicle at the time. The insurer, like me are not convinced they were in the vehicle when I allegedly nudged them whilst parking.
This looks like it will go to court. My word against 3 Nepalese and possible the mystery Romanian who arrived on the scene later on.
I'm glad I took those photo's now.
