Hi guys,

What's your opinion on selling an item on gumtree for £30, testing it myself, sending buyer a video of it working, hand delivering it, them testing it in front of me, and got a text the next day saying it's rejecting their CD (cd player)?

I always just took the risk myself when buying items on gumtree. If it didnt work, then that's my fault for not testing it, or if i tested it, and it broke, then ah well.

The item i sold was stored rather than being used regularly, but was tested before selling.

Maybe I should take it back, or maybe they saw a better one and are trying to return it, or their CD is no good.

If it wasn't working when I tested it, it would have been binned.

Note, I delivered it to a buisness, so doubt they're scamming, unless they saw the better one in the area that came up for sale.

Should I bother, or am I just being too nice?

thanks guys.

If that is what they did, then ignore it. You ensured the item was in good working order and so did they, end of argument. If they were unhappy with the way it worked then they should have said something when you dropped it off.

Agree with above. Block.

After saying that, it is why I won't sell anything electrical and expensive on gumtree or ebay unless the person comes and collects it in person. It aint worth the hassle.

Ask them where you said it came with a warranty.

Thanks guys.

I tried to do everything right, took time to double check it was working before bringing it, also let him set it up and test it before doing the deal. I also drove there especially to drop it off. Even sent him a video on whatsapp of it working, and he even tested it in the shop after.

I bet it's just a shitty burned CD that's maybe scratched or something.

He didn't ask for a return, just said it wasn't working hinting at it.

Ah well, I'm dingying it. Sad

Thanks guys. Karma

Definitely a good tip polarbear. I actually met the seller face-to-face in his business, where he tested it in front of me and it worked perfectly.

I suspect he'd try bring it round for a refund if he picked it up from mine.

perhaps the disk wasn't 'finalised' so data is on there but not set in a way for the CD player to read but a computer will

He tested it himself, in his own place, and it worked fine?
Tell him to go hop.
