And more to the point, why?
I could understand if he beat up the OP but he didn't.

Is this a male-hot-summer-hormonal-I've-had-one-Stella-too-many kind of thing?

A friend of mine had a similar experience many years ago, twat got right in his face, so aforementioned friend shoved the petrol pump nozzel under twats' chin with one hand and clinked his Zippo open under twats' noze with the other. Seemed to have a calming influence.

Ps. It really was a friend of mines, not me.

Sure, who doesn't have their lighter in their hand while using a petrol pump. Stands to reason, you'll want to be sure where it is so that it doesn't spark up accidentally.

I assume this was prior to CCTV being in every forecourt?
I can't imagine Popo would take kindly to threats of GBH/murder recorded on camera.

My father did once threaten someone while at the pumps. The monkey in the booth flipped the emergency cut offs and stopped the fuel supply to all the pumps.
There was a subsequent visit from plod, but as the complainant (who was a special constable) had approached my dad and instigated the argument over some unkown road rage trigger, and there was cctv of the confrontation which backed up my dads version of events, it didn't go anywhere.
Apparently the short angry shouty I'll fuckin sort you out man was a bit taken aback when he was told that he'd be covered in petrol and on fire long before any of his mates turned up. Laughing

I reckon in that situation I'd call his bluff. I mean what's his end game? Prison?

If there is a full on rage off going on, rational thought doesn't come into it. If it's just handbags.... why are you approaching someone with a fuel pump? If you've ever spilt petrol anywhere remotely sensitive you're aware it's not fun times.

So are you saying if angry little man had come at your dad he would have sprayed him with petrol and set him on fire, I highly doubt it, sounds like a load of dick swinging to me
