Hi, my (textile) gloves are starting to get very stinky. Its quite a nasty stink, very pungent and sour, and lingers on my skin after a ride.

I have tried:

Hanging it up in the sun to air dry
Spraying it with anti bacterial febreeze
putting it in the washing machine then letting it air dry on the washing line

After the washing machine treatment it's seemed to have gotten even stinkier!

Unfortunately I can't turn these inside out, they're a bit too rigid for that.

Please help a stinky biker out!

Dettol "All In One" disinfectant
I also wear thin silk under-gloves, originally because something in my Alpinestars was giving me a rash on the back of my hands, but they wick a bit of sweat away too and are easily aired.

Washing machines don't always help and shrink the gloves over time. Someone on here recommended cover your hands in anti-bacterial hand gel and wearing the gloves... amazingly it works Smile

Something tells me that you might have to wait a while to try that out.

Doesn't the freezer just halt bacterial growth rather than kill it?

Agreed. I said the same here. We never did find out if Petemate found a solution.

The freezer trick didn't work for my running shoes and they could gag a maggot.

OP - I think if I were you I'd just buy some new gloves and wash my hands more often. After 2 years or so my winter gloves still smell alright. Get a wash!

Boil them, then dry them properly, then freeze them, then spray with athletes foot spray - let them dry properly again.
This should sort the problem, but it will come back the moment they get rained on or sweated into.
Summer gloves is always a good idea. Bar muffs are a good idea when the rain comes back.
+1 for wash your hands too. Don't put the gloves onto wet hands either.
