Hi guys,

I hear lots of terms used when it comes to restoring wheels: rust, ionisation and oxidation mostly.
What's the stuff on my wheels (and forks) and what would you suggest to get rid of it?

I don't think the attachment worked on my mobile. Here's a link.

Getting the wheels powder coated is probably the best option, You could polish that out but without something to protect the wheel afterwards it'll return in short order if used though winter.

That stuff is the lacquer coming off the wheel.
If you want to sort it the wheel will have to be refinished with either paint, powder or polish and new lacquer!

Someone on Imgur replied to the pic saying it was corrosion where the clear coat has gone. Can you DIY the clear coat (after removing the corrosion)?

Yes you can. You could do a rattle can job on it, that would protect the metal for a while. It's worth looking at powder coating, I found it cheaper tham expected.
