Hi all, I hope someone can help? For the past week Sv has been running terrible it Start coughing and backfire while on A roads assumed it was bad petrol so carried on to work.
After work getting back on A roads starts doing it again I notice the frame of the bike is really hot to touch almost to burning point the bike cuts out try and start it, it's cracking over but not firing so call recovery.
Next day pulled multimeter out tryed starting bike again and battery was 15v so check rr and 1 point there was no reading ordered a new one put in tryed to start it again, after a few attempts and full throttle bike started black smoke so get the throttle to idle speed seems OK ish. Let go of throttle bike cuts out.
Start the bike again tryed to rev slowly would backfire and more black smoke.
Cleaned the carbs gave a service still no joy.
Any ideas I can try?
It's a 2002 Sv650s done 24,000

Go and remove the float bowls, check they are flat across the joint, if not carefully grind flat using a fine sheet of emery on a flat surface, eg glass
