i found the resistor on the schematics in my haynes manual (scan) the problem is there is a huge block covering the schematics.

i know it goes to the piilot bulb, and it is brown so i could just tie it into the rest headlight and taillamp as i assume that it prevents the head and tail from blowing

anybody have a clean scan?

this resisopr is only in circuit or in use when the bike is using pilot light, or "side light" switch position. It acts as a crude voltage regulator, consuming the power that would otherwise be used by the headlamp. without it, the pilot and tail bulbs would fail due to excess voltage.
