Hey guys, well figured this was worth sharing. I took an 899 for test ride today, i am debating tuono v 899, and well, it all went wrong, lets just say the 899 was a little worse for wear and I need new gear!!

I crashed a ducati 899 on test ride today!! Raw footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgm1ugSFZRs&feature=youtu.be

I originally thought there was something on the road, but having slowed it down I can see that the brown smudge on the road is after your bike starts to slip.

Can only assume cold tires and greasy road?

On a serious note, thats the first time I have ever come off a bike, and I was like wtf!! I could not work out what the hell just happened.,...Was pretty lucky, surprisingly a weird sensation coming of, was kind of tranquil.

Oil was there in your path just as you went down.

What did the dealer say?

There is also a streak on the road on the entrance to the roundabout - something was trailing oil or fuel.

Poor obs Bad luck.

Or it could be because he lives in New Zealand (£1400 in proper money).

I did enjoy, but it wasn't as good as I was expecting, however it was just little things, for example I kept sliding into the tank because it needs tank pads, as its very slippy with no grip for the knees. Oh and wow I got a hot ass big time, on the bike that is - but most of all I did not enjoy the sliding along the ground lol!

Hi Pjay, well the sales guy was a little like wtf you want me to do, can you ride it back, and honestly I thought I could, but yes brake lever was fucked etc,.and yes he had to come get me in the end (Friday night and all). The service guy however that came for me, was awesome though. I should him the vid, as I wanted him to believe me that I was not being some complete wanker - And yes he was all good. But yup no getting away from the 2.5k excess, cry!

My guess is the back wheel clipped the island curb and caused the bike to go.

Test rode a new 959 Panigale last month and as the excess was £2000...that certainly made me extra carefull.

I wouldn't even get on a bike with that excess. As pompousporcupine asked earlier, is there not damage waiver available?
