Help please with my Firefox search engine settings.

Whatever I set up as my default engine from the search box it searches on Bing. If I click any other search engine on the drop down menu it reverts to searching on Bing.

I want google back Crying or Very sad

I can't even find bing to delete it.

What have I done?

Hover over the icon to the immediate left of the little search bar (the one top right of the browser window, to the left of the favourites star).
It will have a little drop down arrow, left click it.
Then click "Change Search Settings", it will take you to the search settings page and you can remove any search engines you want, including shitty Bing.

I believe I'm on the latest version and am presuming you are too.

On my version its called "options". Razz
Although IIRC the older (and better) versions had it down as "preferences"

SRWare Iron is what you want. Thumbs Up

Based on the Chromium project browser, same as Chrome, uses Chrome extensions, none of Google's spyware. Mr. Green

Firefox used to be good, now it's just another resource hog.

I stopped using Firefox years ago as it became as bad as IE with its susceptibility to adware etc. I hate Google but Chrome's a good bit of software, runs surprisingly well on old systems. I'll check out Iron though.

Also could be malware re-routing your serarch queries through a third party operated clone of the Bing site and giving you their preferred results.

So a malware check wouldn't go awry. Although I've not heard of that particular one for some time now.

Only being able to search with bing was the first thing one of my work colleagues complained of when I set out to sort out her virus addled laptop. It was so bad I revoked her admin privilages and told he she had to bring it to me for any updates or new software she wanted.
