The first time I went was last year and for the last 11 years I have lived within 20 miles of it Laughing

Was always something I wanted to do when I was growing up as a petrol head Up't North.

I went on Sunday, the day was fantastic and there is so much to see and do. I'd recommend going to anyone.

I prefer Goodwood Revival myself,
Troy Corser on a pre WW2 BMW https://youtu.be/gMdRyU7c9tU flinging it around the track in practice

Probably ok to watch on telly box or streaming but i don't think I would want to go. Lots of posers and boring twunts telling you crap about cars they could never afford to own themselves.

That's why you go to car shows, as unlike bikes where even a top of the range superbike's attainable, these are cars you're never likely to own or get a go in. Also it's an experience hearing them in person, at the last British motor show at the Excel (2008) they had GT40s and F40s running around outside, the engine noise was amazing.

If it was a new car show filled with shiney tat I wouldnt be arsed either, but watching the pre war race cars go up the hillclimb and poking around 70s F1 cars up close or standing in the forest watching group B cars coming through is an experience you wont find in many other places.

Who cares if you can afford one, as cool as they are to see I dont desire or require to own one!

It's not like sitting in the back row at a Bonhams auction Laughing

I think your comment is a little mis-guided and you shouldn't make assumptions if you've never been.

Where else could you get this close to a Mercedes F1 WO5 (to name but a few) being pushed through the crowds to the track assembly area?

The ITV4 show wasn't a good impression of Goodwood at all. Too much corporate sales stuff and not enough of the old boys and their pride and joy classics, or the motor racing stars just feet away. I've been 2 or 3 times though it's a fair trek for a day and there's never enough time to see it all. The Festival of Speed and the Revival are both excellent. I saw the Red Bull F1 car there a few years ago and the details, the carbon, the aerodynamic flourishes close up are fascinating.

I'd have switched off but for Amy.

The hill climb and exhibition coverage comes soon. That'll be worth it.
