Hey all. I'm having quite a difficult time finding a school that has a bike big enough for me. I'm 7 feet tall and around 540 lbs, in the Manchester area. I've tried at several schools, but they all said they didn't have a motorbike for me. Do you have any ideas on what should I do?

dude im 6'7'' and 22 stone. I did mine on an uncomfortable AF bike.

not wanting to be personal, what sort of shape are you in physically ? is it a fat 38 stone? or 38 stone of meat?

I have only found dual sports bikes that are a good fit so far and my old zzr 600 is a juster too when it comes to leg comfort. it pulls me along well tho!

Im replying as ive only just passed my test and it was a pain in the arse on the small bike (er6n)

You could try be creative with the truth as 200kg (or 150kg but that might be a bit unrealistic) sounds more manageable than 500lb. Or you could just not mention your weight when booking and see what happens when you turn up on the day.

Other than that, I think any advice is going to be much the same as it was the last time you asked. Thumbs Up https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=309350&highlight=

All right, Fem-Tef, you'll be hard pressed to find a training school bike that's not fuel injection by now.

OP, presumably your goal is to get a licence to ride a bike, and you already have something in mind. You might have to buy first and get licensed later.

i.e. go and find a bike that comes close to fitting and carrying you, buy it yourself, modify it if necessary (e.g. pad the seat up, raise the bars and uprate the suspension), and arrange for an instructor to come to you for training. If you're in the UK now, Bikesure will cover you on your provisionaL entitlement.

Sensible answer in case actually serious. There's no reason an ER6 or the like wouldn't carry you; they're probably referring to you getting on one of their 125's for CBT purposes, which they don't actually have to use for CBT purposes - it's totes legit for them to give you a CBT on the 600 off the bat.

don't know if they'll be able to help but Focus Rider Training in Bury are very helpful and have a variety of bikes rather than a fleet all the same, could be worth a call 0161 272 0770

did my tests with them, but I'm a foot shorter than you

Did you visit them or just telephone them?
I suspect they think you're a giant unhealthy tub of lard that will have a heart attack during the 1st lesson, So why should they take the chance.
If you're a fit and healthy 200'ish kg then I think they have bikes that you could use.

To give this thread a bit of context, from looking on Google I've found a video of someone who weighs 540lb.

https://youtu.be/xubkoGGkMn4?t=2m19s

It's work safe apart from the fact it's from X Factor USA. Laughing

In conclusion, do what Roger and arry say as there's not a hope in hell of a 125 being suitable.

With a BMI like that, I fear that your heart is under enough strain as it is. The excitement of a motorcycle could well push it over the edge.

244.94kg to be exact. Razz

But since he says "around 540 lbs", I presume it's actually more than that.

I'm guessing/renting/buying protective gear will be somewhat of a problem too, i guess most places who offer training won't have gear readily available to rent while you undertake the training
