Just looking at the thread about the CBR possibly over heating in traffic.

My Bandit doesn't have a temp gauge, fan or thermostat etc. does this mean aslong as they have oil in their cooler they cant overheat?

even in standing traffic?

They get wog hot but never had an issue with the 750 and 1100. My liquid cooled 400 actually gets hotter!

Never had an issue with my GSX600. Even in traffic it never got hot enough to cause concern.

Apparently Suzuki did a great job of making oil cooling work, just because people said it could never work. There is more temperature regulation than air cooling, but there is no boilable liquid like water cooling.

Oil cooled engine overheating?
If it were to boil over you'd have some serious problems as oil at over 300 degrees Laughing

Had a couple of Bandits. Never had an issue and had my B6 in Spain one August, when it was into the 40's.

I did read somewhere though that one of the reasons they allow filtering (lane splitting) in California, is so air/oil cooled motorcycles don't overheat while sitting in traffic. Don't know how true that it is ?

Naturally the risk with overheating isn't oil boiling, it's warping the head, shorting out the stator, that kind of thing.

I guess owning an old bike has at least one benefit, no temperature gauge.
Ignorance is bliss. Very Happy
