TZR 125 losing top end power

I have started getting a problem with my TZR 125. It revs out fine when it is not in gear. it is also fine in the lower gears but in the higher gears sometimes it does not want to rev past 6 of the rev counter, which is obviously restricting the power. The only way around it is by chopping the throttle which is not ideal. I am thinking it could be the main jet clogged up and/or the float level is incorrect...Am I right?

Possible and worth a try to check. But by chopping the throttle I presume you mean closing it a touch, which drops the needle down and limits flow even more

If rolling back the throttle helps at high speed it sounds to be running rich. What condition is the air filter in?

This could be all sorts though. When was the bore last checked? rings, piston changed? Is it running a Powervalve servo or is it pegged shut (restricted, more bottom end, less top end) or pegged open (big hole in mid range but flies at high revs)?

What does the spark plug look like? Does it look like 2 stroke oil is getting into the gearbox oil?
