Hello everyone, after a ride out yesterday I noticed a hissing noise coming from my tank, when I opened the fuel cap I notice a sudden release of pressure I then closed it and noticed the pressure kept on building up. It calmed down after about 6 hours

Should I have a pressure release value or somewhere for that pressure to go??

Bike is a 2006 Kawasaki Zx6-r 636

Thanks in advance for your replies guys!

Inside the fuel cap will be a vent. You may have noticed the breather hole under the key flap near the hinge. Check it isn't blocked.

As above. Perfectly normal especially in hot weather. Fumes in tank build up with the warm air and need to vent. The tank vent hole is quite small so sometimes you get that pressure building up with associated noise. Taking the filler cap off is only a temporary measure and isn't worth bothering about. Just leave it and as the ambient temp cools down the sound goes.

Thanks for your replies. Tank is on the empty side to be honest, must be 2 litres max in there!

Thanks
