I just got a new photocard license in the post, not sure why as mine wasn't going to expire until 2022

I also just checked my license on the DVLA website and it says I have a full motorcycle license. It says nothing about riding it provisionally.

Has DVLA made a mistake then?

If I call them up and ask them what I'm licensed to drive and they say I can ride big bikes does that mean I actually have the license? Shocked

Section 12 is empty on mine, just the valid from and to dates in section 10 and 11.
I have a full A licence with no restrictions, no worries it seems.

Looks to me like you can ride full A and those weird things with 4 wheels until 2022.

The Provisional/Full part is on the bit with your details, not on the tab with the vehicle/category codes.

Yeah that 01 means I must wear glasses/contacts when driving a vehicle.

So did DVLA just give me a full bike license? Is there anyway to test if this is valid?

Not saying I'm going to never ever go and do my test, but if I'm allowed to just go and get a big bike and ride it that's fucking hilarious considering I just failed my test earlier today.

To my understanding, that online database hooks into the same one they use, so I imagine is as trustworthy as the DVLA ever can be.

Not saying I'm going to never ever go and do my test, I will earn the right to ride a big bike like everyone else but if I'm allowed to just go and get a big bike and ride it that's fucking hilarious considering I just failed my test earlier today. Could even buy one, practice on it, then roll up to the test centre and stick L plates on it.

What does it say online?
As Rog often points out, in the digital age the plastic card is superfluous, their database is what matters.

Took a screenshot, says it here in the attachment, click on it.

Could someone with a full bike license take a screenshot as well and post it so I can compare?

Tomorrow I will call dvla up and actually ask someone as well to confirm

What's even stranger is that it says on my license that my full A category entitlement is valid from 11/07/2017... what the heck happened on 11th July in my life? Nothing bike related!

Look at it this way my Orky friend...

By balance of DVLA karma, someone else just lost their entitlement to ride (it has happened, and will happen again).
The difference is, if they call the DVLA that 'mistake' isn't going to be 'corrected'.

Skynet just told you what you have license to drive, take the win.
Funny how irrelevant the truth is with that lot though.

Begins with A and ends in tism.

You'd have to be batshit to actually contact them for anything. Firstly they won't tell you anything different to what your record says; secondly, the call won't stand up in court regardless if they do just decide to take your free entitlement back again; and thirdly, sperge.

Interesting that the definitions of category A are different. Yours is well sperged up. I mean, power exceeding 35kW, or power not exceeding 35kW. Eh?

I suspect that's due to the 3DLD changes in 2013 though, and something to do with trikes. Although it may be random DVLA mongery, like the 2 years of entitlement that they have stolen from me (I obtained category A in 2010, albeit with an endorsement).

Either way, it looks like you've won the licence lottery. I'm struggling to think of a way that you or anyone else could prove that you don't have a category A licence. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Reading his other thread (about failing motorbike tests multiple times dangerously) I hope to god he doesn't buy anything bigger than a 125. For both public and his own safety

Yup, that confuses me a bit as mine shows date of test as start of my bike entitlement as Nov 2012 with 25kw restriction for two years, I've not had to update my licence since doing my bike tests though.

I'm confused about the top three dates in column 10. What combination o events could result in those license valid-from dates?

Why is it only valid until 2022? Are you old or is it an eyesight related thing?

I passed my test in 2009, I have the same redundant wording of above/below 35 kW but my end date is another 40+ years away.
