Im 34 waist for jeans. No idea what waist my leathers trousers are, the label is gone. I normally wear jeans or shorts underneath unless I know I wont be stopping for any time. If I stop I will leave leathers with the bike.

Is it the same as normal clothes or do I need the next size up?

You shouldn't really be able to fit a pair of jeans under your leathers if they fit properly. Wink

Simple answer: go to a shop and try them on.
Slightly more complicated answer: order a pair in your normal size, if they don't fit well then send them back to exchange for a different pair. Repeat until you've got the fit that you want. Laughing

I usually use Infinity or other such places as a fitting service then nob off and buy them loads cheaper from FC Moto or whatever.

The sizing numbers on motorcycle clothing have always seemed entirely arbitrary to me.

They will give you some indication of which set of the same brand and style will be larger or smaller than the other but that's about it.

So if you bought a set of leather jeans with the non-linear dimension indicator number 38, chances are a 40 will be bigger and a 36 will be smaller but that's the only real inference you can make.

In general they are on the small size and one size up is likely to be best guess.
Jackets are particularly problematic because upper body shapes can vary much more.
You need to try a few on.
Often one or other brand tends to consistently match your body shape better.

Why Leathers when textiles are easier for commuting and generally better for winter?

Get some 'Chaps' they have loads of room and you can wear jeans, shorts or spandex under them. Go to a shop and try some on and f**k evil bay off.

Bear in mind that leathers stretch with use. So how they fit today isn't necessarily how they will fit in a month.

Leather is a natural product. Different leathers stretch more than others. Some lots. Some barely at all.

In short, you'll never get it right, even if you spend weeks trying before you buy.

Rather than start a new thread...going to high hack the OPs!

I'm looking at my first set of leathers. Trouser wise I'm normally a 40/42 waist, but going to go for a 44 waist in leathers. HOWEVER, not many go up to this size.

I've seen a Furygan jacket I like online and Alpinestars have some in a 44 waist. Will they still zip up together?

Probably not but changing the zip wouldn't be a major job.
Would you actually zip them together for road use though.
I don't think I've ever bothered.

Depends on the manufacturer. RST appears to size noticeably small at the moment. The last suit jacket i bought (Greenwoods, sizes are generally dead on) was a 44", my RST bike Jackets are both 48"

My HG jacket was I think a 42" but HG is sized for short and apple shaped people.
