If it died that quick very likely to be an electrical issue. Check all the earth connectors and wiring is in good nick, no oxidized connectors etc. Double check the alternator/rectifier.

Hope this helps.

Compression test it; once results back we can go from there.

It's the only way you'll know for sure. Going to need one in future anyway, so may as well grab one now. They're not massively expensive.

Is the fuel pump ticking when you switch it on?

You need a BIG FAT BLUE-ISH spark or GTFO.

A watery yellow/orange fizz will not ignight fuel when under compressive forces.

If compression is so bad then the engine will turn over very fast and run on a little when you let go the fire button.

And compression in All Four Cylinders is unlikely to drop-off all of a sudden.
Possible one or two if a couple of valves have been bent.

If I was feeling a bit butcherish I'd spray some easy start into the carbs/airbox. If it fires it's not electrical and almost certainly fuel related.

Which is what I would think if you have been continuously trying to start it with choke on and can't smell fuel.

However I take no responsibility if you try this at home.

Is it worth the cost? You can ebay it and get a runner for not much more. It will still be a fzr6, least reliable and ugliest bike on bcf.
46k on your last mot, 70 seems unlikely in a couple of months.

Just an idea, since you had the head off. Did you put all the leads where they were before? I mean from coils to plugs. If you swap them around the bike won't start, as you mess up the firing order. Thumbs Up

Oil does not evaporate.

Yet another idea, how do your spark plug caps look? Any cracks, rust inside...? Cracks would let the spark jump/arch to the engine; rust isn't a good conductor.

I would also try to find any loose connection under the tank, you've had quite an adventure under there.

If it's carbureted, unplug the feed hose and fill the carbs via that.
If it's DFi, do as lads say, spray some ether (starter spray) into the airbox/intake.

Next thing to do would be the compression test.
As it ran before, I won't question your ability to do the valve clearances (you had the head off, you could have mixed up the shims)

Oh, that doesn't sound good..... I've had a couple of engines that sounded like that in the past and sorted them. I COULD tell you what I done to sort them, but because you're a wee c**t I'll let you figure it out on your own (or when someone tells you, ya ungrateful little shit)

It's difficult to say for sure but sounds low on compression.
