Hi all.

Know I'm new and tried searching with no answer. Just passed direct access. Always ridden bikes and never done car test.
Wondered rules on riding abroad. Can I immediately or do I need to hold my license for a year or time period?

Sorry such a simple question but harder finding the answer to such a simple question lol

Cheers

There is no probation period ,as far as I know, but you should always have an up to date licence with you , along with all the other docs for the vehicle while aboard

If by 'abroad' you mean France, and if you want to stray strictly legal, you need a heap of stuff:

https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/country/france/

It's not mentioned, but I believe you also need a spare pair of glasses if you need your vision corrected, whether you normally wear either glasses or contact lenses.

They're particularly useful for spotting 20mph (32kph) signs so that you don't get caught doing 39mph (63kph).
