Today I had probably the worst 'fun' ride out I've had since I started riding. I'd gone out last night for a few drinks (not a massive amount but a few). Woke up feeling ok, had some orange juice and chilled watching some tv. Met my mate at his house and was supposed to have a shortish trip to Macclesfield to look at some new bikes for him (superbike factory any info guys?) . Didn't have sat nav so ended up getting lost a Lot so the trip took 2 hours longer than it should have.

got to the place and tried to turn round as I'd gone past it, ended up down a massive slope. Got off to turn the bike around and felt super weak, could hardly move the bike , same when I finally got the bike outside the place struggled to manoeuvre it barely saved it from dropping twice as I was wheeling it by foot into a space. Hands were shaking and sweating , bike felt like 2 tonnes and all my confidence was gone.

Anyway yeh pretty sure it's cos I didn't have any food or sustenance since last night and it was about 4pm in the afternoon.

Tl:dr biking is more physical than you may think. If you're planning a ride out rather than just a short commute make sure you have eaten something worthwhile . Riding on empty is dangerous and saps your confidence like hell

Hope I haven't bored you all just thought I'd share my experience

Snickers helps. Feel a little rough a snickers with its peanuts and slow release energy is good to stave off hunger.

I go home every day both mentally and physically exhausted when I do Direct Access days. Its demanding throwing the bikes around.

It's a Sunday, a bike ride was involved, yet no mention of a Full English anywhere.

I'm confused.

Thinking

Was this neat orange juice or did you dilute it with water?
And how much?

Used to happen with me at work, where I'd hit the wall in terms of energy levels. I used to make sure I had nibbles on me just in case, multi-packs of nutri-grain bars (when on offer) are good.

I notice a lack of concentration sometimes when I'm hungry but that's just because I'm a simple male who only thinks of food, sleep and boobies.

With regards to Superbike Factory - I've just bought my new bike from there. He'll end up paying slightly over the odds but it's a decent enough place. Get him to check the bike over thoroughly when he picks it up. I had 12psi in both tyres when they handed it over to me.

Tom.

Riding on an empty stomach is one thing.
Riding home from the gym after a heavy workout is something else.

Yeah I could've been more of a dick to them about that. Unfortunately I was far too excited to check the pressures when collecting it and assumed pressures would be part of their pre-sale checks.

Ah well.

Is it the carbs in the beer that keeps you going.

Or was it those wee white tablet the vet gave you?

Smile
