Following on from the celeb RIP thread which I and a few others may have derailed banging on about Dinky toys.

Toys from your childhood which you remember fondly.

One I remember getting one Christmas was a Big Trak

The advert made it look much better than it was. Laughing Now I watch the advert again, I wonder how I ever believed this
thing was the answer to all my toy related prayers.

"Well done Big Trak" Sick

Other toys that stick in my memory include

'Bullet Man' a super hero from the Action Man universe.

The talking commander Action Man "Give me some cover" "Enemy tanks approaching" " Advance in single file"
are all I can remember but I'm pretty sure he said other stuff.

Also unwittedly contributed to Rolfs Paedo tour of the UK by having a Stylaphone.

Evel Knievel bike was proper cool.

a friend had a board game called the dark tower.
it had a battery operated console type thing in the middle.
somewhat of a D&D battle type game.
it seemed to be way ahead of its time.

Best one I remember was the Vertibird. A captive helicopter flying in circles with two controls (essentially thrust and collective, but not really). It had a hook underneath that you could use to rescue stuff from a burning building.

My favourite childhood toys were either Star Wars or MASK.

The Best MASK toy ever was Boulder Hill gas station (which I owned!).

Looks a bit rubbish these days...

WOW! I remember MASK. (now...) That's exactly what I hoped this thread would do. Something about illusion being their weapon??
Pretty sure I had a red 'flying' car with gull wing doors from that range of toys.

Thunderhawk, flown by Matt Trakker, whose mask was called Spectrum. It was a Chevy Camaro with gull wing doors and a bomb that it could drop.

I had Raven which was a Pontiac firebird which turned into a seaplane. It had reverse gull wing doors and the bonnet flipped over to form the hull. A friend of mine had Rhino which was a semi truck which turned into a tank, and I also had a few others. Condor, Dragonfly, Meteor... tons of others.

I still remember loads of guff like that from my childhood. I also had Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and DC comics action figures. I also had a Batwing which shot orange darts.

Toys? You lucky, lucky bastards. I was put to work from age six down t'mine.

Tonka Toys as good as issued a challenge to every kid that had one. You had to try to smash it to pieces, it was virtually in the contract.

I wa scared of my brother's Space Hopper. And that was at age 23.

Original early '70s Hot Wheels redlines, w/ track (I never had the loops - they didn't work very well anyway iirc), but I had some track and a clamp. And these cars:

My sister used to organise Space Hopper Gymkhanas in our back garden and she'd have all the kids in the street queued up for their turn. (Streets used to be full of kids back then.) My sister is now a teacher, so the signs were there.

Anyone remember kernockers? Also known as clackers. Not a great toy but fondly remembered because it was one of the many short-lived crazes.

That Airfix flight deck is awesome! I'd have loved that as a kid

This was great fun, always nagged my mum to visit my mates house who had this, because remote controlled cars you were supposed to crash, how cool was that?

My sister (weirdly) had one of these...

https://stretcharmstrongworld.com/images/bvvjlywwk~(kgrhgookieejllmgm5vbkr86rd66q~~_12.jpg

If I recall the gel inside was piss coloured. My sisters eventually became the subject of one of my boyhood experiments
and I seem to remember cutting its hand off. I also shaved the heads of all her dolls. Her toybox resembled a messed up
primarily female occupied version of Auschwitz after I was done with it. No wonder she became a copper. Cool

If that door didn't creak when it opened, I'd be very disappointed.

Period TV ad - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3AU6aNYCBU

These were a lot more crap in real life than in the advert. They needed a perfectly smooth floor to run on - no good if you had a carpet!
