The one plus 5 might be able to do some things slightly better than the S7 but I'm gonna go for tried and tested build quality and reliability

There's a guy on youtube who regularly tests most new phones, some to destruction, the S7 did fairly well.

He also did the Oneplus 5

Do they not still come with screen protectors from the factory?

Maybe a flimsy plastic film to stop the screen getting scratched (but doesn't stop the plastic protector getting scratched to fuck), but i'm talking about a glass screen protector

I've got one tiny scratch on mine, but I avoid having the phone in the same pocket as keys etc. I haven't got on with 'proper' screen protectors in the past, I've found they make the screen less responsive.

Interesting, can't say I've noticed the battery life being that bad, and it actually charges fairly quickly (compared to my iPhone/iPad which take literally all my life), but other people with the phone seem to disagree. The only real annoyance I have is the auto-rotate often stops working and I have to reset the phone.

I thought Oxygen OS was fairly close to stock android?

Mine was fine for a while, then got really laggy and the battery life plummeted to lasting half a day with me barely touching the phone. I could be annoyed at the battery, but the lag was unbearable.

With Lineage for comparison, I'll easily last from when I unplug it at 7 and until I plug it in again around 1am for bed. Often after a night out I'll just not bother charging it, and I'll have a good 20-30% when I wake up. With no lag too. No idea what the cause was but the difference for me is night and day!

I even flash Oxygen OS again a few times just to see if it got resolved, but happened every time to my phone with Oxygen, and never on Lineage (well, back when this first started, Cyanogen).

Interesting, I'll keep it in mind if I need to upgrade to Nougat at any point. Pretty happy with Marshmallow, and with android it isn't as critical as iOS being on an older firmware, they come out with security patches unlike Apple who say oh well buy a new device Rolling Eyes

I won't be buying the Note. I'm not saying Samsung haven't had problems with other models but clearly, the S7 has built a substantial fan base which reassures me.
Happy to be a sheep in this instance.

I have a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. It's awesome and it only cost £99.

Camera could be a lot better and I'd prefer a smaller phone but other than that I really can't see why anyone would spend more.
