RSV Mille... tell me everything I need to know

We're moving shortly... less commuting, pay rise, double garage... thinking of adding a second bike for fairweather riding, possibly the odd commute...

I fancy a couple of contenders, speed triple 955... and the RSV Mille...

the Mille being the one I prefer... but don't know much about them, so any/all info useful

reliability?

odd costs specific to it? (like the rear wheel bearing on the futura for example)

more routine costs like chain/sprockets/tyres/brakes... etc.

quirks?

essential jobs that should have been done?

Was going to say, starting always seems a struggle. Couple of mates have had them, both seem to have had the same issue. Other than that, surprisingly solid and reliable effort from the Ayeties. Sound the tits and you should definitely own one. Maybe two.

Starting to dig into the Falco I bought a few weeks ago. Most will apply. Things I've found so far....
Electricals. Budget for a Shindengen reg rec. Check both the alternator connector plug / sockets. There is a white circular one tucked behind the frame spars, mine was well toasted. With these 'improvements' made, charging is as good as any Jap.
Mine has been well looked after, but the standard wheels showed quite deep corrosion, needed some serious cleaning up. If you get the Factory with Oz wheels..... lucky beggar!
Fuelling is a bit of a black art. Balancing the throttle bodies is easy, but there are also a couple of potentiometers in the ECU that set up CO levels. You need to put it on a gas analyser to set them up properly.
If you are coming from anything four cylinder, its a whole new learning curve. But, contrary io popular opinion, they are extremely well built.
But.... Of the two choices..... I would take the Triumph...... Any day!
