Went for my first non L plated ride.

Somehow, now I'm a riding god, cars aren't trying to kill me (well less of them anyway) and I'm more attractive to the opposite sex.

Some of the above may not be accurate....


Riding school had NC750 in the S flavour and I do quite fancy the X I have to say.

I think it'll be a toss up twixt the X, Versys, Strom or maybe a gs in 800 twin guise.

Reasonable choices. If you're going Nazi, I'd suggest looking at the "700" GS as well, unless you really need big spoked wheels for (off) street cred.

Sorry Freddie was short on time last night and realised this morning that post comes over arsey - wasn't meant to be.

The principles of non disclosure and avoidance of contract are now very different in law as to what they were 5 years ago. I say in law, because that's what counts, but the FOS had set directions to the same effect for some years before CIDRA but that still didn't stop insurers trying it on.

Key points are you must be asked a clear fair and not misleading question and the answer must be material to the underwriting. If it's relevant to underwriting then to avoid you'd need to prove inducement into contract - wouldn't have insured you at any terms mate, soz; or to achieve a proportional remedy you'd have to show the cost of insurance, had the insurer have known the true facts, was significantly different to what was paid.

You are asked what licence you have and the answer would now theoretically be a lie. But of what consequence is it to underwriting? I don't think there's a motorcycle insurer out there that doesn't insure riders with full licences. Extremely unlikely to be able to avoid. And proportional remedy? FOS would have great fun on that - so you're now better trained and more qualified but the price has gone up for the same risk? Jog on.

The fact only the admin fee was charged says it all.

Well when I got my full licence about five years ago I rang my insurers
Me "I've passed my Mod2 and now have a full motorcycle licence"
Insurers "Oh, well done ... was there anything else we can help you with?"
