You could ask a parent or relative with a bike licence and some experience to be on your insurance as a named rider
I did it for my sons car insurance reduced the quote by about 300 quid

Yup, to find them have a play around with all the options when getting quotes on whichever price comparison site you're using.

Annual miles... age of the bike... if you're telling them that you have an alarm / almax chain / etc etc then do check to see if declaring them is making the price cheaper... and any other variables the website asks for.

Have a look at quotes for other learner 125 bikes as well.

Not entirely sure that works for bikes (does for cars as you say).

Talking of saving money, there are other ways to cut the cost of insurance cover for young drivers. Parents can, for example, add themselves as a ‘named’ driver to a child’s policy. This will lower the cost of cover because the insurer will work on the basis that a more experienced driver is behind the wheel for at least part of the time.

This is what I did for my son and what I was suggesting for OP
Which as far as I am aware is totally legal

However as pointed out whether you can do it for a motorbike has not been proved on this thread

Try: www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk

Don't make any assumptions about what "should" lower your quotes.

Start a private browsing session and call yourself Mr Fakename 2 doors down until you have the best quote.

Try every combination of:

TPO / Third party fire and theft / Fully comp

Garaged / driveway / street.

High and low mileage.

With and without security.

That last one illustrates the insanity of the process. I had the lowest quote on my GS insurance go up by 1/3rd when I listed security. Assume nothing.

I tried it for the bike and it didn't work the same way as cars. I think as bike insurance's less of a scam, they don't illogically see another rider as less risk. I have my dad on my car insurance though (as a second driver), even though he lives hundreds of miles away and I see him about once every 6 months Smile
