The only interesting thing about this thread, is that out of all the people who know OP is a sock, Ste is the only one still actively engaging him even with said knowledge. Laughing

Didn't consider a statutory declaration then? I've used it in the past when I didn't know about proceedings until afterwards.

Magistrate make look at you oddly as a sock though...

It barely counts as actively engaging. Razz

Too late now of course. In any event if the failure was due to not updating the keeper's details on the V5 then the request was properly served so might well have been found guilty anyway. If the underlying offence was a six pointer a plea bargain wouldn't have helped either.

Back to the current situation it looks as if you've already served a 6 month ban for one specific offence, but did that also cover the earlier insurance and not in accordance offences, the two that should have 6 points each but are showing as zero? Or did you serve an earlier totting up ban?

Strictly speaking when hearing an Exceptional Hardship hearing, the court is not supposed to take into account the circumstances under which the 12 points were awarded, but they will see your history. They are supposed only to assess the impact of a period of disqualification, and it's affect on you and particularly on others. It is intended as a punishment so impact on you has less weight, for example loss of your job might not be considered exceptional. Impact on others will be more persuasive - are there other people who will suffer exceptional hardship if you receive a six month ban.

Expect searching questions, especially with the record shown. How did you manage during your previous period(s) of disqualification? If your licence is so important to you and to others, why did you not take more care to retain it? None of this is intended as a dig at you, better to face these questions now than be caught unprepared at court.

Do you want to post up your thoughts on what you consider to be your exceptional hardship arguments, and people can comment?

Paddy might still be offering you £500. Should cover you for a bus pass for a while - you're going to need it.

And yes, anyone who does 60+ in a 30 deserves a ban.

That's snatching the throttle on a 100 bhp bike Neutral I realise the OP was on a tiddler.

It's a snatch of the throttle if you have fists that are made of ham...

I can't say I've ever accidentally (or purposely for that matter) done 60 in a 30.

Oh noes, won't somebody please think of the children? Crying or Very sad

In some instances, doing 60 in a 30 is so dangerously irresponsible that nothing short of a ban is appropriate but there's loads of other times where it's no big deal.

This is all somewhat besides the point because the OP is going to be getting smacked with the ban hammer.

Where I got caught speeding it was 3 lanes going each way (including the bus lane), with a central reservation... but still a 30 limit.
