When a bomb detonates, does it go 'boom' or 'kablooey'?

Boom. But only if it's in relation to the general destruction of buildings and the like.

Kablooey designates some kind of stickiness. So if it was a bomb that caused a lot of sordid human remains, it might have gone Kablooey.

I asked the other half what noise a bomb makes when it goes off, didn't give her the options.

She said Boom straight away.

I offered her Kablooey as an option and she still said Boom.

If that's the worst thing you have to worry about with a 14 year old daughter, you have this parenting sussed. Thumbs Up

Kaboom!

What noise a bomb makes depends on what type of bomb it is and how far away you are. Wink

Kablooey sounds like something from a Hanna Barbera cartoon from the sixties.

Boom is the right noise for an explosion IMO.

Kablooey, is just pain weirdo tbh!

A bomb has to go Boom! But then it depends on the type of explosion. I mean Bang might be more appropriate if it's something like a shotgun being fired, which some people might think sounds like a bomb or explosion?

Totally depends on the type of explosive devices..

But I'm agreeing with 'Kaboom!' for a dropped one – the drop/crack sound ('ka') followed by the BOOM blast...

I am sad that no one has yet mentioned the "kabam", "foom" (aftersound), or "bada-boom".

Two old men arguing in an old peoples home, "it's WHOOMPH" said one of them. No "it's WHAAM" said the other. Just then the duty nurse intervened " I think the word your looking for is "Womb" she said. One old guy looked at the other and said" how would she know what a hippopotamus fart sounds like under water"

Probably not strictly on topic Laughing

Depends on the type of explosive, type of detonator and your relative position to the detonation as well as echo effects.

For example a badly loaded flintlock pistol where priming powder has been squashed into the touch-hole will go ker-boom, 'ker' being the priming powder fizzling through the touch hole. A well primed pistol with a clear touch-hole will go 'KBoom' as a blast of flame shoots through the clear touch-hole.
