That's pretty much it... It's a.hobby bike rather than a commuter, so didn't want something that I spend my already limited time fixing rather than riding!

It is tatty, but again that's what I was after, not ridden in so long, so I'm expecting to drop/slide it at some point.

The look is growing on me, even if its not my usual thing. I'm hoping I find the riding position a bit more comfortable in time.

It is definitely easy to ride...

Do they do different seats for CBF's, or do any other model seats fit?

Out on it again today. Noticed the dash clocks don't light it. Might have to look into that...

They may just be very dim - mine are.

You can get the seat recovered and refoamed if it's a little worn / thin.

It's in good condition, just the wrong shape. Sad

When I was on it yesterday, if I sit right on the back of the riders seat it's fine, but unless I clam up and brace myself there I just slide forwards.

I think if I have to hit the brakes hard I'll end up with a testical up my bum...

Slightly last minute, but did front bearings (pig of a job), front disc and pads, and chain adjust this evening.

Front brake is a bit bindy, but will hopefully bed in alright.

I don't think I'll be dropping the pegs. Caught the front edge of my boot on the tarmac while going round a roundabout earlier!

Took it in for the MoT, and it failed on a few bits, all quite minor and expected really.

One fail was a fork seal. I'm assuming I'm best replacing the pair at the same time?

Can I do it the easy way on these? i.e loosen the yokes, slip the forks out, pull the dust covers and old seals out, and put the new seals in. Or do I have to dismantle the forks completely and do the seals from the other way? (A mate thinks it's the latter)

Tried doing the rear shock last night. Access is a pain, and the bottom bolt is seized, probably where the road salt/water/crud is kicked up by the rear tyre.

Got the nut off, but can't shift the bolt. Tried getting the bolt to turn, but it's a no-go.

Left it soaking in oil, will have to have another crack.

Photo of the supporting antics...

Even having left the bolt to soak, still no joy. Bolt is not rounded off.

The bolt is seized to the inner race/sleeve.

I'm starting to wonder if my CBF is restricted.

I got a bit trigger happy the other day, on private property of course, and the acceleration seemed to top out at 90mph, probably could have crept up a bit further if I held it, but only slowly.
Now I'm a big/heavy chap, but the book top speed is 125mph, I can't see my 'frame' slowing it down 35mph.

The numberplate has had holes drilled in the bottom, which correspond to nothing on the bike, so I assume they were for an L plate. There is also marks on the front fender, possibly from an adhesive L plate.

I wouldn't mind riding it restricted, IF I had the paperwork, as it might hold a better resale value. But I don't have said paperwork.

Would 90mph be about right for a restricted CBF500?

I have ridden a CBF500 once, didn't max it out but I would expect something in the region of 110.

You could take the carbs off and see if there are any washers on the intake. Before you do that, check the throttle cable is getting full travel.

If I had to bet one way or the other I'd be putting money on not restricted.
