£40/mo for an Africa Twin on PCP....

https://www.lingshondabikes.co.uk/new-bikes/adventure/crf1000-africa-twin-372054.html

Also, if the luggage is free, can you keep it at the end of the deal?

You do need nearly £3.5k as well though.

And I'm not sure how happy they will be if you use it how it was meant to be used, running around Africa! Laughing

This would actually be interesting to test. They market it as an off-road bike so dings and scratches are part of normal wear and tear, right? Even if you drop it, that's the sort of thing that happens to everyone off road so, normal.

Just keep up the servicing..

With allowance of only 4000 miles. May just cover me for riding for the year to work. But no fun days or travelling without extra cost.

As for Africa you'll need over a year just for the mileage Thinking

How can they only give a 4k mile allowance for an "adventure bike"?

Just one road trip around Europe would see you with nothing left over when you're home.

Because there are people that buy the dream but don't live out the fantasy.

900 miles. Bought for a tour that never happened.

700 miles. Bought for a tour that never happened.

Literally the first two I found on eBay.

I've always wondered, with these PCP mileage limited deals what's to stop you just unplugging the speedo sensor and riding a bazillion miles without the bike recording them? Just do your own servicing to keep the engine sweet and plug the sensor back in once ever few weeks to add a bit of recorded mileage.

= £146.79 a month to rent it, and keep it pristine.

Or 44p a mile, if you use every last inch of your allowance.

A friend had a car on this type of deal a few years ago. Half way through the period his circumstances changed and he ended up using the car a fuck load more than planned. It wound up much more sensible to buy the car than return it and pay the excess mileage.

Given that it won't have any MOTs yet to record the mileage, I'd definitely not speculate on the possibility of digital mileage "correction" for about £15.99 and 90 seconds of time depending on the marque.

Get around them by taking it back to them and signing up to a new deal for another 3 years.

Say you're off to another manufacturer and see how the excess mileage charges go.

Explain to me why it is the future. Really, I cannot see why.

I can just about understand a car that is used by the wife for shopping and school run but thats about it.

I like tinkering with my bikes. Even my Trophy is not bog standard.

Add in the worry about condition and milage means I really cannot get my head round PCP.

#Yes, I'm probably a luddite.
