Or jogging.

Or accidentally crossing on stairs

Balance.

Really? Got the stats for Jogging/pedestrian fatalities?

Remember when I said about you picking a ruck in an empty room?

Jogger few months ago nearly staged a woman's head in under a bus pushing her over. Does the fact it was a near miss not a fatality matter?

Does any of it matter when a sense of logical balance is applied?

Well, in 2006, 3 pedestrians were killed by cyclists and in 2005, 4 runners died in the Great North Run.

Is enforcing licensing of cyclists a proportionate response if more people are killed by running a half-marathon?

Between 2011 and 2013, DoT figures showed over 6000 (or 14%) pedestrians who were involved in a road accident were under the influence of alcohol. A survey said that 31% of drivers had had to take evasive action to avoid drunks, 12% admitted having hit a drunk.

It is time for compulsory registration and insurance of pedestrians, having to wear a clearly identifiable number when on the street in order to allow CCTV enforcement and with the ability to ban them from the roads if they are caught drunk walking, to clear this menace from our society.

Hang on a minute..... isn't being drunk and disorderly already an offence?
But how will we catch them with nothing but cameras and anpr??

I think it's time for facial recognition everywhere....

So you are happy for thousands to die and be injured on the road as long as your pet hate that involves single numbers of deaths (which could be attributable to either party) is stamped on hard. Good to know you have your priorities in order Thumbs Up

Indeed.

10 people killed on a single little stretch of the M1, and a further 4 on the M5 in the last 3 weeks alone, no calls for new legislation to keep the public safe.

1 muppet walks out in front of a push bike and something must be done, won't someone think of the children, push bikes are the biggest threat to civilisation since the Cuban missile crisis etc etc.

It's a very odd world in which we live.

Your talking to an irrational bigot who has decided cyclists are the scum of the earth, no amount of facts, figures or common sense will convince him otherwise.

How would ANPR detect drunk and disorderly?

Laughing That's why we need facial recognition technology. Then every reported incident can be rerun on CCTV, the offender can be identified and the fines posted out centrally.

This would of course require a ban on face coverings and constant surveillance. But then, if you've got nothing to hide.....

That is what you want right?

I still has a sad about this. Because this gimboid does indeed seem to represent the population at large. Hate cyclists because they're all entitled. What with their ability to get through traffic and their minimal running costs, and their tight clothing.

Agree, the news article on ITN was pretty biased in favour of the pedestrian.
Footage of some nutcase cylcing through red lights etc etc. Full details of the illegal bike, no mention of the fact the woman walked out in front of him going through a green light and was on the phone

Was this filmed in London, or another town under British law?

In a state where AFAIK you need a front brake.

An example of why you should always brake rather than swerve... wait.

That's the way we're heading if not yet arrived at.

Considering the way the laws are at present it's another little step.

The frothing of the anti transport lobbies that like to support cyclists would make it almost worth it applying moped laws to pedal bikes and why would anyone here object when they're already following them with their motorbikes.
