Hi, I've got a K7 GSXR 1000, just noticed that one of the joints between the lower and middle crankcase pieces is leaking oil so the gasket compound has failed.

I'm in the process of removing the engine to split the cases and re-seal, but is there anything else I should be checking? I've read that a blocked crankcase filter can cause pressure buildup which can cause seals to fail. Is there anything else I should check while I'm in the engine? Is there a way to test a crankcase filter?

Cheers Thumbs Up

How was compression on it? Only asking as a bit of blow-by on the rings could blow the seals too ...

I hadn't thought to do a compression test to be honest, it's running really well - noticeably stronger than my K1. It's a good point about the blow-by though, wish I'd thought to do a comp test before I took everything apart now - the engine is practically out. Going to cross my fingers for the time being and hope it's not down on compression.
