A 1986 bike that's first registered in 1996 is going to be an import as far as I can see. I've checked in a few places, and they all come back with the same thing - 1986 (C reg) bike, registered in 1996. All other details are as you would expect them, MOT history shows nothing unusual for a 30+ year old bike.

Any other reasons there would be a 10 year gap between manufacture and first UK registration? While it's a nice enough bike, I'll be walking as a clock change (it's wearing MPH clocks) hasn't been mentioned at all, I haven't seen another of this age with this kind of mileage.

Bike is an RC24.

When I bought a freshly imported "grey bike" it was given a UK registration to match its year of manufacture.

Padgett's Motorcycles used to deliberately hang on to some new bikes and sell them years later, and I guess they'd be registered in that year.

Hi

If a 2nd hand import it should say so on the log book. But registration dates on imports can be fairly random (seen a 1988 model Aprilia on a 1994 plate).

A USA import would have an mph speedo, but probably not combined mph / kmh.

There are bikes that sit around for years in dealer without being registered.

All the best

Katy
