Protective Film prevents scratching before sale.
Peel off.

Buy Pin-lock kit and fit.
Or buy pin-lock visor.
No pin-lock is dire. If you ride in inclement weather's.

Did you use Flash bathroom cleaner or something?

I've had several AGV lids and a few extra visors and never seen anything like this.
I regularly clean both sides of my visor too with warm water and sponge.

I'm with Liam, what did you use to clean it?

I clean my visor with fresh water only, and if it requires a bit more, I use hand soap. The worst thing to use is a dish detergent, bath room detergent and other stuff of this sort.

Hand soap makes the process a bit quicker.

I'll bite. Why is Fairy Liquid worse than hand soap?

Because salt.

Because fairy liquid is full of it, and it can cause scratches to plastics and paintwork.

Apparently...

Personally, I only clean my visor with furniture polish.

But I wash my chain with WD40.

So dissolved salt in fairy liquid is equally as abrasive in all combinations? I would suggest some warm water with fairy liquid (now the salt is even less concentrated) and a soft sponge would have no ill effect. Perhaps we should advise to use deionised water? What with the amount of sodium and chloride ions present in tap water? I bet he was in a hard water area too, even worse!

I may sound argumentative but it's good to question "don't do".

Quite correct. Any harmful effects would likely take years to be visible, but folks do worry so.

Regardless, furniture polish is still the best thing to clean a visor with Thumbs Up Laughing

Very Happy

Double PS - there's salt in hand soaps too but shhhh don't tell anyone.

And with polish, the dirt present which gets lifted by the degreasers etc, is also abrasive. Unless you can wipe it all away in once smooth wipe, this will have a slow effect.

OTOH, I only ever use a bit of dish soap and warm water on some kitchen roll to clean my AGV K3 visor and haven't had this coating wear away in this fashion.

The salt is sodium and is dissolved in the detergent.
It improves wetting.

But since most salts are corrosive they can harm sensitive surfaces.

I do not think dish detergent would eat a coating like that so easily.

Some science-ish stuff:

https://chemistry.elmhurst.edu/vchembook/558detergent.html

Coatings are more likely damaged by alcohols or other spirits.

I used Hein Gerike Lens Cleaning Spray on my Pin-Lock. Unbeknowenst to me there is an anti-fog coating on the inside of the pin-lock insert. The Hein Gerrike cleaner destroyed the coating.

I think the offending culprit was the Isopropyl alcohol in the spray.

I also had a Posh pair of Uvex wrap-a-round safety specs that I used a 'specs-cleaner' to clean.
I noticed that the tint disintegrated a few days using the work's cleaner.

I contacted Uvex who asked what cleaner I used?
And they said, 'Uvex cleaners are designed to clean but not destroy the coatings of their specs.' Sad
