Hi All - My First Time Posting.

1st
I have a Kymco Pulsar S 125 its a 2014 model i brought it 2 years ago second hand it was running great up until 3 months ago when i started noticing it started to Jigger when i was in 4th and 5th going steady around 40 in 4th and 50 in 5th i have also lost power it used to go 60-65 mph but now it just hits about 50-55.

2nd
I also had 2 pipes burn out so i went out and replaced them because i was told they probably just gotten brittle over time. Today 23.08.2017 the new pipe that had been replaced 2 weeks ago burst again and inside the pipe its hard and brittle were its gotten to hot.

please can you have a look at the 2 images and let me know what could be causing the problem and if it would be a easy fix
Thankyou.

From where did you bring it?

Boo!

Do the revs rise without the road speed increasing?

Does the engine stutter?

Have you pulled the spark plug after a high speed run and checked the colour of the tip?

The melted pipe is for the secondary air injection circuit, which is designed to suck air as the gasses leave the exhaust port and help with complete combustion of any nasties that have sneaked out to murder polar bears.

I'd expect (sight unseen) that the valve in the circuit has gone and that it's blowing hot exhaust gasses up the tube rather than sucking air in, and that it'll keep doing so no matter how many times you replace the tube.

You could replace the valve unit itself (the bit on the front end of the tube), but it's an emissions fiddle that you don't actually need. You can remove the plate with two bolts on it from the head, blank it off (or securely plug the metal pipe), and bin all the parts leading to it.

OP, do as Roger says. I had this on the CB-1 and my mate on his FMX 650, in both cases we took it all off, used the metal part with pipe to plug it = take the pipe off, cut it, do some proper welding, put it back, done. Everything nice and sealed.

Hi Rogerborg...
Thank you for the reply, I noticed today when riding to work as i do most days i noticed as far as i can tell i dont have the jidder anymore since the pipe has a huge hole in it so im guessing the problem lies what you mentioned above. My brother is round tomorrow and we are going to take it off and have a look and if it is then i will look into the steps and advice you have given above. If i have anymore questions or need further help i will post again here.
Thank you

p.s Thank you for your comment also RhynoCZ

We had a 2009 Pulsar here we got for cheap
(see 'The fifty quid bike" in show and tell https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=301946)
and that exhaust thing was one of the first things I binned.

Remove rubber pipe, unbolt it from the head then bash the end flat
for about 1 inch or so from the pipe end NOT the flanged head end !
fold and bash again then refit.
Chase the thin pipe back to source and check its sealed off

While I'm rantin on...
I recall the Pulsar had a vacuum operated fuel tap which I swapped for a manual one.
If yours has a vac tap, check it for function and the pipework for cracks and leaks as minor faults can cause fuel starvation.

Hi All

All Sorted what i decided to do is take it off and put a blanker on. After serching internet and reading some replies on on here and other forums people have said because now days a lot of chinese/taiwanese bikes have a EGR fitted to reduce polution so what people have done because its not really needed in the uk is use a blanker. So today i went to my brothers House and we made one out of a large washer. By doing this it has made my bike have better tork and getting rid of the Jerking when in 4th and 5th.
https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/924/5i6Je9.jpg

We took apart the old EGR and noticed on a thin metal plate a thin bit of metal had broken off and was all jet black with dirt inside.

Thank you for all your replies everyone.
