Learn from my mistakes.

Loctite all the splined couplings (sprockets and clutch bits) and the alternator rotor and all the associated threaded fasteners.

Forget zero valve clearance. Give them 2 thou or burn your ex. valve.

Or check they still spin when they're burny-finger hot.
