Pretty sure not supposed to use hazard lights in motion except perhaps to help warn of hazard just ahead.

Quote:
Rule 116
Hazard warning lights. These may be used when your vehicle is stationary, to warn that it is temporarily obstructing traffic. Never use them as an excuse for dangerous or illegal parking. You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving or being towed unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead. Only use them for long enough to ensure that your warning has been observed.

Of course the real fail is that by doing what they say, you are not warning other users that you are moving to the right to overtake Rolling Eyes [/quote]

I don't have a problem with the alarm, well I do - I hate bike alarms, but it came fitted to the bike, and seems to do its job well enough - pain in the neck it is, but not sure I'm up to the task of uninstalling it - disconnected battery for now. And it might make it easier to sell the bike, maybe.

Just the monumental stupidity of encouraging anyone (let alone a newbie with a newly passed CBT) to take one had off of the controls, and then faff about trying to press a button on the key fob to make some flashing lights and noise, particularly as the immobilize button is on the same fob less than an inch away Laughing

Or, someone walks by, the bike says its line, and that someone says: U wot?! and kicks the bike over. Wink

I had one of these that i installed after my bike nearly got nicked. I bought it for the remote start function because my ignition barrel was broken off (the barrel worked, but couldn't mount it).

Being cheap I removed the barrel and relied on the remote start.

Turns out the battery in these fobs isn't actually incredible, which left me in a bit of a pickle one time Very Happy

Did you ever use the overtake warning? Is it as bad as it sounds?

I wired in a hazard light switch to my zx9 either to use while filtering to make the bike more obvious or to say thanks when someone had moved away from me.

I was aware that someone only seeing one side could misconstrue it as a 'normal' indicator being used.

For the audio element; a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust system did work well - a couple of blips if needed.

I'd worry using an alarm for the same purpose that people would presume I'd stolen bike, with the current bike theft climate an' all.

Now forgive me if im wrong but....

If your following a vehicle at high speed and suddenly the bike in front puts hazard lights on, you going to assume hes pulling left and slowing to a stop (due to a problem)

not going right and accelerating round something.

As for the vehicle your overtaking, they probably wouldn't even notice or give a shit... probably too busy staring at sheep in a nearby field while doing 28mph in a 60 zone.

Seems like a confusing signal... not very helpful at all.
