Is case in many a station round my way. I know a couple who don't have this policy and so use them even if it means going out of my way. A lot of them around here ask for helmets to be removed before pumps are activated. Feck that in the winter when my snood is tucked in nice and snug.

Can't buy it over here without first swiping your card at the pump or dumping cash/swiping card at till.
PITA if you want to fill up but pay cash because it means working out how much your tank will take, hand over excess cash, then out to pump fuel and then back to the till to collect change.

I try and use supermarkets, so pay at the pump anyway. But if it's not a pay at the pump system that would be a pain as I always pay on card...

I recall doing it once in the car. The woman got a bit snotty because I said I don't know exactly how much it would take. Think I left my driver's licence and credit card with her while I filled up.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that this only applies to owners of motorbikes whose motorbikes have not only the capacity to actually read, but, wend their merry ways to the till, wherefore to, employing faculties oral and ambidextrous, the doofers transact.
Whose owners, it is worth noting, need neither their lids remove, nor take any part in the filling-up process!
Everyone's a winner!

Continuing on (if not to say 'it follows that'), the owners of motorbikes that can do all of these things subsequently need merely to sit astride their bikes, hanging on as per, though imparting . . . nothing! . . .
Still, safer than a left-hand throttle, anyroad . . .

Last time I went in the petrol station, he asked me if I wanted a coffee!

I said no, I tend to spill them on the bike... Rolling Eyes

Intereting considering you are not supposed to use your phone on the forecourt as it could make the world explode Laughing

How does a "Remove your helmet" sign deter a robber?

They started this thermite reaction.

Tut Tut
The FAQs say:

Quote:
Can anyone use this service?
If you have the Shell Motorist app or the PayPal app then you can use Fill Up & Go. For safety reasons, motorcyclists should not use the service. If you want to pay with a fuel card, or want to redeem fuel vouchers, then unfortunately you also won’t be able to use the service.

Not sure if they will actually somehow block you, it would be hard to do and the actual risk seems minuscule.

Its going to be a constant problem as long as scrotes fill up and dont pay, ultimately they are the ones causing this.

As always the answer is just fill up elsewhere if your not happy.
if that cant be done then i'm afraid you'll have to take your lid off :/

Make sure you fill up on the way home from journeys.
nothing worse than putting all your gear on and riding 5 mins to the petrol station just to remove it all again :/
Setting off with a full tank would be easier.

That'll be the thread where I FOI'd the Farce involved and found that the amount lost to bike ride-aways was so low as to be essentially noise.

Granted not to a till monkey who has it taken out of their wages, and the amount spent by bikers is probably insignificant too. We're not playing a strong hand here.

Since returning to riding 3 years ago, I've yet to be asked anywhere I've filled up, and I often rock the 'not road legal'
superdark black visor look. I don't usually get off the bike either until I'm ready to pay. Perhaps I appear honest.

Question

One local-ish station, in a "posh" area, has started to ask all bikes to "remove bike helmet for your own protection", and didn't appreciate being told that bikes do not wear helmets, nor were they impressed that we couldn't understand how we would be "more protected" if we took our lids off. We don't bother going there anymore, no bikers do now. This being N.Wales, that's a fair bit of income in the "riding season" that's being thrown away.

My nearest one, in a bad part of town, that get's bilked all the fucking time, is cool. I think they key to it is that they have good cameras in smart places. Even after changing my bikes a couple of times recently, I still didn't get asked, so it's not just that I'm a local. The 2 supermarkets that are bang outside the really dodgy part of town don't ask.
