Hello all

I've just fitted a second hand beowulf exhaust to my gsx650f

I've noticed the join isn't great and the supplied linkage let's both noise and fumes out.

What's the best solution to this? Can I just wrap it in some thing or does anyone know a seller whod provide a replacement link?

Picture for reference

look up gungum by holts. They sell it Halfords, I've previously used this and works fairly well. Sets rock hard though so can be difficult to remove.

Next time I need to seal up and exhaust I'm going to give some heat resistant silicone a go, something that you'd use to seal around the flue for your boiler. They sell these kind of products in screwfix under the fire and heat sealants.

I just use generic silicone sealant rather than high heat stuff. It's been fine from the collector backwards so far.

If you are near me, we can refit the exhaust but that gasket thing needs to be inside the shiny new pipe and then clamped. Open up the new pipe a little and squish on. Bolt up and boom.

Hello all

Thank you for the very helpful & informative replies. What i've opted for a is a sealant on the outside of the pipe leading from the cat, which is sandwiched when I've installed the beowulf. I forget the brand but the heat causes it to harden and air-tight seal.
For good measure I've also used Exhaust wrap from Deamon Tweaks and then clamped it down using a jubilee clip.

Safe to say it's neither coming off any time soon and is no longer leaking.

So you've opted to ignore the factory gasket designed to seal the pipe properly which is still in place and ready to use - in favour of bodging it with tape and gum.

Can't help some people...

To be fair not all link pipes on the Bandit/GSX retain that OE gasket. The Scorpion link pipe on my 1200 did, but the Pipewerx one on the GSX1250 doesn't use it and has a smaller diameter on that end as a result.

Hard to say with the pic what's going on there, but it doesn't look right though.

The graphite one is just chilling there. I'd have just slightly opened the end up, pushed the graphite one in slightly and worked it on gently.

*depending on mood that is... some times I just wanna fucking hammer it.
