I've split the original thread to remove the bit where it all got out of hand elsewhere for safe-keeping. Unfortunately I cocked it up and it took the first post with it so I've quoted it here. - stinkwheel

Well it all started as a nice sunny afternoon ride out. I fancied a relaxed afternoon and thought it would be good to take the bike for a long ride.

I got onto the motorway and cruised for a while at 70mph. A car pulled up alongside me and as i turned my head i saw the driver looking and laughing. He then proceeded to pull away then slowed back down along side me again. He repeated this over and over again.

After a while i got sick of it and opened the throttle up. I read 120mph on the speedo.

In everyone's opinion on here, what mechanical failure taken place to cause this accident?

What bike.

Yes. Sounds like something broke.

Having the bike to hand might help.

Maybe he noticed something wrong with your bike and was being a twit about it, though I doubt it as one tends to notice serious problems on bike if they occur when riding them.

You seized it because you are a dickhead.

Had you been covering the clutch like a non retarded person you'd have caught it before it nipped solid.

I bet it seized due to poor setup rather than a mechanical issue.

Appreciate the comments from some of you Smile

For all the assholes saying i fucked the bike, i didn't. This is not the first time i have taken a motorcycle to over 100mph, i know how to ride a bike.

Not as much as i should have been wearing.

Motorcycle jacket, jeans and boots. Not motorcycle boots, and of course a helmet.

One of the boots ripped off my foot with the impact.

Thanks mate, honestly though its unlikely i will gain back mobility in the foot and not guaranteed if i will gain it back in my leg. The leg should heal but the foot is not guaranteed.

Its unlikely that the other driver was trying to warn me about a problem he noticed with the bike. Because he never even stopped at the crash, just drove away.

Its a clean IP if any of the mods want to check it, my home Sky broadband connection, not a multi.

Thank you!

So, why were you on a motorway, with only a CBT? Trying to get even more points on your licence?

Well, there you have it, let that be a lesson to you all.

Even a slow speed crash may result in ankles fecked up for life, if you don't wear proper boots. Be glad you've got your foot atached and hope for the best recovery. Wink

By the way, why didn't you disengage the clutch the moment you felt something was wrong? All the crap you went through could have been easily avoided. If you were on a four stroke and your rear wheel got sprayed with engine oil, that would be a brown-code situation, but the situation you are describing was very easy to manage safely. You were even going in a straight line. Confused

110ph on a motorway on L plates and a CBT?

If it's true, you're an idiot for posting it on a public forum, let alone doing it in the first place. If it's not true then you are an idiot for taking the piss out of those who do have injuries. I've got permanent nerve damage in one foot, not a laughing matter.

Either way I'm struggling to find an ounce of sympathy for you..

You probably wouldn't have been racing knobheads doing "110 mph".

Enjoy the bus

Not really, i can post it anywhere considering i already gave a statement to the police admitting it all. although i admitted to doing over 100mph the police are just sticking with the not in accordance charge. they said its not worth charging me for it without physical evidence due to the fact i could change my mind at a later date. Lucky i guess.

Well, if you did disengage the clutch, then the gearbox must have seized, which is mostly a result of insufficient lubrication. When was the last time you checked the gearbox oil?

Without investigating the engine, it's really hard to tell.
