Just had my first service done on my 765 Street Triple. All seems good apart from they must had adjusted my clutch a bit (had just started to get use to it as well).

So a couple of times today when pulling away from a stop in first, and slightly up hill, I messed up the clutch and throttle and had a rough pull away. Not juddering but did sound a bit rough for a brief second and wasn't a smooth get away and didn't stall Sad

I guess it's is kind of lugging the engine for brief second. It's got 650 miles on the clock. Would the couple of rough starts do any long term damage?

And also, what would be different from doing the above and actually stalling an engine. Surely you lug an engine for a brief moment before it stalls, right?

So can you really lug an engine when pulling away in first the same as going up a hill in 6th at 30mph at WOT for example?

No, stop being a fretty fanny. Just give it more revs and get used to the clutch or adjust it yourself. It's no more complicated than the brake on a pushbike.

Just give it more beans. You only need clutch for 1st gear anyway... then just smash it through the gearbox. But just give it more testicles when pulling away Thumbs Up

The old chap who used to service my carb'd Kawasaki would take pride in getting a lovely, smooth, low idle but it wouldn't pull away cleanly until I raised the idle speed a bit. I'm not sure whether this is relevant to your bike, but just saying.

The dogs in the gearbox are already engaged so, unless you were front-wheel-in-the-air hamfisted with the clutch it shouldn't do any damage.

I found that with my ninja too... someone recommended that the idle should be lower than 1k, tried it and it just didn't sound right at lights and a few times I tried pulling away it was like pulling away too quick in car and the clutch hasn't caught up with the engine, so it lags for a split second... I tried giving it extra revs, but that just makes it sound like you want to race everyone.... so now my idle sits around 1.5k and I can get some nippy takes offs in the wet or dry

Come on Jimbo i raise the idle speed using my throttle before take off.
Why sit at the red light with a high idle and engine getting HOT?
The old chap had pride.

Jaffa and his fucking 1k idle sperg again. Laughing

Ignore Jaffa OP, if my triple didn't want to hold its idle at 1000, your 765 won't.

I offered many times for this cheddar to come get my bike to idle cleanly at 1k, guess who didn't turn up. Wink
