This interview, what do you think about about it?

Here

Pie has a video on it.

Here

Not my opinions, but ones held by many Catholics in this country that protects the rights of other religions to hold (and preach) similarly odd beliefs.

He merely defended his faith.

Smells of hypocrisy to hang him for it.[/url]

Wouldn't be bullied into rejecting his personal beliefs, or condemn others for theirs. Fair play to him

No he was avoiding using the actual words "gay sex is a sin" by using his "beliefs" as a cover. What he was actually doing was using his "beliefs" to avoid using words that would damage his carer. Like every other politician, weasel words.

Its hard not to rather like him, perhaps mainly because of how much some others despise him.
Clearly a very intelligent thoughtful chap anyway.

I presume they're all gay because of the buggering at Eaton.

I personally have less respect for someone who adheres to religious tennets for their own sake rather than because they personally have decided it is a good idea. Especially a religion which is as bizarre and demonstrably fabricated as catholacism. I feel it shows a lack of rational thought and an inability to formulate their own moral compass.

Religion is a support mechanism for the weak minded at best. A form of self-perpetuating brainwashing at worst. In this case, I think it's a bit of both.

I think it's high time we stopped pandering to the demands of any and all religious groups. If you want to follow a religion, that's your business but it should in no way be allowed to impact the behaviour and lifestyle of other people who do not follow it.

They most certaily shouldn't be a special case. I would apply this universally. Starting with the status of religious institutions as charities AND the automatic inclusion of bishops in the House of Lords.

The French have the right idea with their concept of Laïcité

So Rees-Moggs religious comments confirm him in my mind as a weak-minded, credulous fool who shouldn't be in a position of responsability at all.

I find myself oddly liking him. He's saying that parliament and church are different things and should be regarded as such. I see no danger of his beliefs influencing his decision making ability.

If we as a nation have adapted to other religions, it's only right we remain calm when talking about our home grown ones too.

I still say Bill Bailey for pres though. He's straighten us all out.

I would. What basis is received religious doctrines for making decisions that affect the population of the entire country?

No, I'd condemn him for using them to hide behind. If he believes that gay marriage/sex is wrong, he should have the balls to use the words to say it.

Firstly it's Eton. Same as the place name. His six children would suggest he quite likes a bit of clunge.
That's muslamic levels of procreation there. I've met hairy chested, alpha male, hard drinking scaffolders with
just a measly 3 kids before now... Pathetic compared to Jacob Rees Dongs half football team of lineage.
Notably, they will all want for nothing, he can and will provide handsomely for them. Which in my mind is far more
laudable than farming the whiny little fuckers for moar cash from the state. If he wasn't an MP he'd still be a
millionaire via his investment company so for some to say he's stupid is wildly far from the mark too, I wish I were
as stupid as him.
I'm not religious, and to an extent when I discover someone else is strongly religious it devalues them a little
bit in my perception. But what I can't help but admire is his willingness to stand by his remarks even
though they aren't the of the modern 'popular' goodthink mindset. Particularly when so many of his peers at
Westminster will blindly ally with any poxy little cause that approaches them if they think it will win them some votes.
I like that he will stand by unpopular opinions, it means he wouldbe able to make the right choices for the country
without worrying first about what everybody will think of him if he has to make those kinds of calls.

Not sure I care what Jane Ghosh thinks. She seems oddly pre-occupied with welfare cuts??
I'm sure there's a nice broad brush comment I could make about that but I'll take the higher ground.

I would, as I would any other religious person on the planet.

Check this out...

Pope Francis is a deluded fantasist, wittering on about sky fairies and praying for this that and the other. What a tit. People are dying, you moron! Whether two benders get married or not has fuck all to do with that. In fact, I'd claim that your religion contributes more to death, especially in third world countries, than any other philosophy or religion.

Shuja Shafi, what a mentalist!
Ooh, let's all worship Allah.
Who?
Allah, God, you know?
Ohhhh, you're mental too. Any chance you might get a handle on some of these twats running around with acid and machetes and generally fucking up the lives of the other people they have to share this planet with?

Dalai Lama? How about doing something constructive instead of just worshipping some non-existent deities? I know you mean well but you're basically just holding everyone's coats while the scrap between fundamental Islam and the rest of the world gets going.

Idiots, all of them.

So you think the Muslim community has no ambition to get a Muslim into the PM role?

Magic beans anyone?

I'm still waiting for your facts to show he's trying to be the next PM.

So politicians are not ambitious? David Lammy considered a leadership bid, and a mayoral bid.

You're still throwing about a load of 'maybe' and 'perhaps' from 3rd parties. He's already said he wants to be Major again in 2020 adding,

I appreciate your narrow view that he must be lying and everyone else is right, because that fits your narrative and you have zero ability to think otherwise. I'll try once more, but I'm not that hopeful that you'll ever deliver on anything:

None, which is why he said that he would legislate based on the majority opinion rather than his own beliefs.

I mean, I respect your right to believe that he doesn't mean it, because life is more fun when we inject a big dose of imagination.
