Your best bhp per £ will come from fitting a CBR600 engine. For best results, also fit a CBR600 frame, suspension and wheels. Obviously, the electrics will also be needed, and it will be hard to get the RS plastics to fit the CBR frame. Thumbs Up

Hi

The standard exhaust is not bad at all, so any change there will only give a tiny improvement. If you want more power then get a professional to port the Polini barrel, play with the ignition timing and use high octane fuel to suit (but remember that if you do this, then use normal petrol you are likely to have an expensive engine failure as you burn a hole in the piston). Then be prepared to play around with the jetting.

Realistically you will spend a load of money to gain a little top end power while loosing low down power (and the RS is hardly rapid from a standing start anyway due to the high gearing).

If you want loads of power from the RS then fit a Rotax 257 engine (250cc 2 stroke single, sold for karting and enduro use). This apparently bolts straight into the early RS (not the later RS though), and even the electrics are a straight match. Down side is that they have no oil pump so you need to premix the oil and petrol, and you will need to get a suitable exhaust made up. This will give you a bike with about 45~50hp and which weighs virtually no more than the standard RS125.

As an aside my 1993 RS125 will, when healthy (needs a new piston at the moment) manage an indicated 115mph (probably 100~105mph true) on level ground, and that is 100% standard.

All the best

Keith
