Yes, I've straightened many levers but it needs to be done carefully and with knowledge of the metallurgical consequences of doing so.
You need to heat it to within a ballhair of molten so the metal becomes plastic. You re-bend it once and once only, don't try for perfection.
Then you need to heat the metal to near plasticity and slowly cool several times to re-anneal it becaue it has effectively been cold-worked.
If you rub soap on the metal. It'll burn to carbon. When the carbon starts to burn off, you are pretty much at the correct temperature.
After having done all this, I then try to break it.
Replacement Brembo levers are £35. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

Sorry to dig up a dying thread, but I had a go a straightening my clutch lever today, with surprising results in both success and colouration:
