follow on from my credit score shit.

short:

account switchover from hsbc to nationwide.

hsbc said account closed all complete
wasnt closed
added interest charges to nothing
£54 overdrawn
months arguing to remove it and close account
£43 was removed left £11 then added interest to it...

9 months later cleared to £0.00 and closed account agreed to remove the negative off my credit score

didnt remove it
weeks of calling i got told by hsbc to contact equifax
contacted equifax who didnt get a reply after 21 days so removed it temporarily in case hsbc reply.

hsbc replied saying i must contact them and equifax put it back on my score

hsbc are saying i must go to equifax.. and also said an investigation was launced by hsbc in september, the 4th "investigation" they have had to do over this now and all i get is "were sorry it was our mistake" and that it should be removed from my credit score but they refuse to agree with equifax that it should be removed and equifax wont remove it unless hsbc say so..

what do bcf?
been reported to ombudsman and heard nothing back since

how shall i go about billing them for the cost of all the calls? can i bill them for the time ive spent dealing with this?

spent a little over 6 hours on the phone in total since july and this has been going on since december

Here's how it works.

You complain to HSBC. They have 8 weeks to resolve to your sanctification or they issue a deadlock letter.
After that it goes to FOS. Who will rule and decide on any payout.

Point to note, that it costs over £500 to go to FOS, so that should help you think up a figure Wink

Did you rise a complaint before? Because this would be a reopening of the same complaint.

i filled a complaint with fos about 2 months ago after i was messed around and lied to multiple times.

ive made multiple complaints to them and the last resolution i received was that it was their mistake and it will be removed, i was told a new complaint was raised last week so... fobbing me off more for no result, equifax have raised the dispute again in the hope hsbc actually do something.

I'm on my phone so excuse any shit punctuation etc...

First of all, before you can go to the FOS you have to follow HSBC's complaints procedure so do that first.

Secondly, what was the interest charged on? It appears odd that £43 was removed leaving £11, that suggests to me that there was an outstanding balance somewhere but you know the facts and I don't.

What are you trying to get Equifax to remove? Late payment markers? Change the settlement date or something else?

I can't imagine HSBC will remove the arrears status if there was an outstanding balance at the time the arrears were reported because what they've given Equifax is a statement of fact. Equifax won't know what HSBC's arrears reporting strategy is so they can't tell you that it should be removed.

Just a point to note, unless HSBC contact Equifax and ask them to remove it immediately your credit file won't be updated until the next time HSBC report that I suspect is at the beginning of the month.

James

Edit
Was the complaint upheld by FoS? Given the outcome from the HSBC side of things it would suggest that they (HSBC) didn't uphold the complaint otherwise you wouldn't have got as far as the FOS.

Given this is the same complaint. Unless you have agreed to HSBC resolution. Then FOS will rule.
No idea how long this will taken though.

You can't be fobbed off on a complaint. They either agree it's a HSBC fault and you agree to resolve. Or you don't agree and get a deadlock letter or the 8 weeks expire. Which allows you to go to FOS.

Quote:
This means we can sort out some complaints within just a few weeks - and around two thirds of cases within three months.. But some disputes can take longer. For example, because of the large number of people asking for our help, complaints about mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) are likely to take up to two years to sort out.

Complaints can take longer if you or the business raise particularly complex issues - or you want a final decision from an ombudsman.

Linky

Sounds to me like HSBC feel they have a strong case.

So just what caused the issue?

You switch out while being a debit position? Thus still owe HSBC the balance?

i did an account switch ( about a week before going into hospital (Semi relevant)

got out to a letter demanding £54, called them to ask what the hell was going on as id had a letter from both banks saying switch complete, checked my online banking and my account was open, it had 0 funds but direct debit tried to go out a week or so after the switch over so 4 weeks later when id got home i had no clue that id had unpaid direct debit charges and such and had to reinstate my bike tax.

hsbc argued for about 20 minutes and then realised they where at fault and agreed to fix it... they removed £43 but left £11 which i have no idea why they left £11 but continued to add interest to the £11 when i was told it will be removed and account closed, they kept it open left £11 on and added interest to the negative for 9 months.

managed to grab these from my hsbc online before they closed it though they had deleted quite a few from my messages or expired.

march they say if i dont pay within 14 days they will close my account
https://i.imgur.com/nrB0iuK.png

but june.. more than 14 days later and after some more was taken off by hsbc

but instead they leave it open and charge interest despite the fact i have not paid it.. in theory would have let it open for?? years? 9 months it was gaining interest during the dispute..

https://i.imgur.com/fPp1L7h.png

the account was finally closed at the end of august and the balance cleared.

The glaring point there is that it says they will close your account but you still remain liable for the amount.

That would have been fine if they had actually closed it in december and did the switch over correctly, or in feb, march april and i guess every month until august when they told me they would 100% close it and remove the balance, which they did not.

they concluded in may it was their mistake and agreed to remove it and close the account

Yeah, all I can add to this is that I’ve used the switch service about 3 times now on different accounts and never had any of these issues, and one of them was from hsbc Thinking

Ask them for it because this is going to be vital to your case without this you might be arguing something that you / they didn't agree to.

When you have it, post it up and we'll have a look.

So in this case the fault is with your NEW bank. As it is their responsibility to ensure any DD's are set up on your new account.
HSBC will have provided them with a list of your DD's.

my issue is with hsbc now as they're the ones who put it on my credit score
