All other speakers appear to be working, and the drivers speaker doesn't seem to have any output at all (no crackling, dropping in and out or anything like that, just no sound at all).
My first instinct is door card off / head unit out... but I'll be honest I'm not really sure what I should be looking for or testing. Guessing continuity test on wires from head unit to speaker, if I can figure out which ones are which.
I have a multimeter, and I'm going to do some research on the head unit (connector pin-outs, removal tools, security codes).
Any advise on where to look or what to test appreciated. |
Taking the speaker out may be the simplest, the drivers are often wired with spade connectors and one of these could have come off over time. If both wires intact you can test a driver with a battery, wire a pos and neg to pos and neg on battery, placing this accros driver terminals should cause cone to move in or out, if this happens then anddriver was still connected then you may have to look elsewhere. |

Took the door card off, unscrewed the speaker and discovered that it wasn't connected at all.
Fished around inside the door and found the speaker wire, plugged it in and its sorted..
