Afternoon.

Rear brake light issue saga continues. TL:DR; New pads, snapped rear brake light switch then replaced it and have been having issues with the brake light staying on ever since. Adjusted several times over and worked for a while but then occurred again.

Spent some time looking over the bike today and think I've the cause of the fault as the rear brake pedal and think its probably in need of some lubrication.

Couple of questions:

1) What is the best way to remove the return spring? (the larger of the two in the picture (B - top picture))

I've tried to remove the bracket hook bolt (B - lower picture) but doesn't seem removable. Even the brake light spring is tight as awt and a pain with pliers so is there a special puller tool needed or just brute force?

2) What grease is "high-temperature grease?" Copper grease for this application? (manuals throwing me off with not needed phrases).

A spring hook/spring puller is the easiest thing to use. They're cheap and readily available on eBay or Amazon.

If you don't want to use one then you can pass some wire through the end loop, wrap it around a screwdriver handle and use that to pull the spring on and off.

Well, the pedal did need a clean-up but the problem isn't over, yet.

Got the spring out by bending the lower half and it flung away (watch yer face kids). Used a combination of force and a spring from a trampoline to get it back in place.

Nice bit of multi-purpose grease and a clean of all that black gunk out of the pedal adjuster and I can actually hear the pedal spring back into place now, which feels weird. Pedals sharp as awt, took some doing to get it in line with the footpeg thanks to crust adjuster nuts.

Anyhow, the problem still continues.

After many attempts at adjusting the brake light switch it kept getting stuck on and then going out and doing its own thing. I've realised that when I poked the switch (by hand) a little it comes on - staying on - and when you poke it a little bit it can also go out - and stay out. I can't help but think there's a loose wire inside the switch. I un-plugged the switch and gave it a firm shove to re-connect but that hasn't done anything. There's no electrical grease on the connection because I can't find any locally, yet.

Keeping in mind that I snapped the previous rear brake light switch clean in half (1) Is there a chance I've damaged the fuse or part of the rear brake light electrical circuit or (2) the brake light I've been sent from Sportsbikeshop is faulty?

Would you buy another switch or - since I need the valves adjusting anyway - get the shop mechanic to look at the electrics and see if they can solve the issue. I think I've done a good job at exhausting all possible answers by myself.
