has it arrived yet?

Must admit I didn't notice this thread resurfacing. The bulbs eventually arrived. First problem was that one bulb fell apart when I tried to fit it, leading the to the challenge of extracting more of an LED bulb from inside the headlight (see https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=322487 ).

Once properly fitted, yes they are brighter than conventional bulbs, but the difference in aim between dip and full is much too great. Set for best dip performance makes full beam uselessly pointing into the air, illuminating the top of the hedgerows but leading the road completely dark. Cranking the aim down to make full beam useful means that dip is a bit too low. So not as much improvement as I'd hoped.

Rate mine 4/10 for aim, and beam pattern, 7/10 for brightness, but bit on the blue side.

Considering changing back to osram nightbreaker, while pondering other options.

That seems to be the case, although SV650S on this forum said he was happy with his. What's missing just now is confirmation that even paying "£££" gives decent results. I've seen kits ranging from £55 to £140.

I'm keeping mine for the moment as they are an improvement over standard bulbs, and the lower power compensates for the heated grips.

I've replaced my H4 7" bowl with a 'Daymaker' clone, or I would have decent LED bulbs in.

A friend is running some expensive Philips ones (£140/pair or thereabouts) and they seem to be very nice indeed, beam pattern included. If he's behind me (Rare) I can see his lights lighting up the road as well as mine. This is on a Brutale 910 though, so he's not shy about spending a few quid for nice things. I can find out exactly which ones if someone wants to play guinea pig for BCF.

id guess more expensive ones would be better because money would have actually gone into testing the beam angle correctly and not just wacking some chips on a board.

Yeah, in my case they were a lot better than the stock halogen bulbs so for £10 it's been a great upgrade for me. After an accident that left my headlight housing wobbly on one side I've taken one bulb out and the light output is still great for unlit country roads at night.

I am told by my mate that the LED bulbs he's running are Philips Ultinon.
He says there are ones branded not for road use - He's not tried those, he's using the ones in the white box (Road), not the blue one (Race). Expect to pay £150ish for a pair
