Next Challenge: Your bike outside a nail salon/bar

Got bored waiting.

Next challenge: your bike in front of a fuel pump displaying the documented fill capacity of your bikes tank. I.e. ran dry then filled to the brim.

(Mine would be 18.5L)

Well I think you might get bored waiting for someone to do that one, as well....!

In theory the only way to do this legitimately is to have the bike die on you for lack of fuel and then push it to a petrol station.

I tried running the tank as dry as I dare earlier this week and it was still only 15 litres which means I *should* have had another three to go.

It just involves knowing your bike really well and planning a decent ride to get the most out of your fuel before refilling. Smile

If I time it right I can get 19L in my 18.5L tank after riding it into the petrol station. Confused

Will leave it today. If no one wants to do it - Ill change it tonight.

I know my bike very well, especially with its wildly divergent mileage (this winter has dropped my mpg around a third). I just don't fancy pushing it again. Sad

But somehow I suspect that 'knowing it really well' will have involved 'running out of fuel' at some point while pushing your luck1? Not actually something I have ever actually done on a bike, and only once in a car, in 40 years on the road.

Here's a thought - why don't you show us how it's done?! Razz

I suppose it depends on the age of your bike maybe?? Mine is regular as clockwork.

I can call how many liters it will take when I pull in, based on nothing more than the miles I’ve done since the last fill up Smile

That’s not how this game works! 😂😂😂 but if you insist. I filled up this morning so should need fuel by Wednesday or Thursday 👍

LOt depends on your riding, so I can be uber conservative on mpg but I also go scratching which hammers fuel consumption.

Not to mention, running with the choke on at this time of year. :/

I suppose it's not something I've ever really thought too much about TBH; I know my V-Strom does well over 200 miles between fills (which is round about when the dash starts bleating at me) so that's when I fill her up. I've never felt the need to try and push it; and if I'm riding in a group all starting with full tanks it's certainly never going to be me who needs to stop first.

Out of (slightly OCD-ish) interest I've been using that Fuelly app actually, and looking back over my database of 19 fillups, my mpg ranges from 64-69. so yes, pretty clockwork too. My biggest fill up has been 16.7 litres, which it turns out is 3.3 litres below the stated capacity - that equates to a minimum of 46 spare miles at my rate! That's actually quite a surprise to me and I'll probably start leaving it longer in future. Still not accepting your challenge though! Wink

(WTF does everyone still talk about 'miles per gallon' when I doubt more than about 10% of this forum has ever bought petrol by the gallon in their life?!)

Well done sir. Good analytics 😀👍👍👍

That is a shame because it sounds like you have done 90% of the work. Smile

That was the “hard” bit / the next bit is just to plan a decent ride and then do the ride! 😂

I had the same epiphany a while back when I started tracking my fuel and miles properly - the fuel light on mine comes on after 130miles!!!! I don’t even think about it until 180. If I leave it till 188 - I can get near enough 19L in.

Next challenge: Your bike next to a Union Flag (and it needs to be a proper fabric flag, ie not some sort of sticker, or painted or printed paper item...)

Damnit!

I would have got that if it weren't for faffing around trying to get the attachment under 1MB.

I have iPad apps for that (e.g. Cram) but the easiest way is to just email the image to yourself.

Don't think there are enough players these days, are there!? OK

Next challenge: Your bike next to any Union Flag (and it needs to be a proper fabric flag, ie not some sort of sticker, or painted or printed paper item...)

...no stipulation that it has to be a national flag
