Oddly, they don't send me letters. I feel left out now.

I have a home cinema setup but it doesn't include any sort of TV tuner.

Same, but difference is I filled the thing out on the website that says I don't watch tv. Never been bothered since.

Really? Another one? Laughing

Genuinely, no way to and havent done since 2011. Most of it is either crap, or shown at times I cant watch it.

The F1 is about the only thing I miss, otherwise DVDs/Netflix/Amazon Prime.

If you have your tv set up to watch Amazon prime and other internet stuff, how can you prove to the investigators you aren't watching catch up tv as that now has to be licensed does it not?

By not engaging in any discussions with them.

It's up to them to prove that you're guilty and the easiest way for them to do that is to have conversations with you about what you do and do not use your TV for.

If you don't say anything to them then they'll go and spend their time with people who are willing to have a conversation with them.

They'll go for the easy targets, when I got their "I visited today to help you start watching tv legally" bit of paper through the door, they hadn't even bother ringing the door bell. Who knows, they might only bother ringing the door bell if they can see or hear a TV being used.

I've never seen proof that you didn't murder Maddy.

Exactly that. Innocent until proven guilty and short of being in my house and watching me, or through Theresa's ISP files, there is no proof one way or the other. The vast majority of cases come about through a hooky confession gained by a license enforcer through bullying.

Besides, if they were that bothered, instead of implementing the "do you have a tv license" screen on iplayer as I found when viewing in a hotel earlier this year, they should simply have implemented a password which you get with your license, like Netflix, Amazon or any other paid for online service.

Which is why they seem disproportionately to target wimmin for enforcement.

Actual patriarchic shitlordism.

And this is my biggest issue with the whole shebang.

I dont mind if they want to tax it at source, or if they want to charge for use and password it, but the heavy handed approach of "YOU MUST WATCH TV, EVERYONE DOES, PAY UP NOW" before forcing a confession and threatening court is totally unacceptable, especially when those targeted most successful are the vulnerable.

You don't mind being robbed, as long as it's not inconvenient for you?

I have not watched tv for almost 10 years as well, plenty of letters with "we are opening an investigation", "we will be visiting you soon" etc. Got a couple of visits too.

- Hi I am from TV license
- Hi, I do not watch TV (silence)
- Do you own a TV etc...
- I do not watch TV as I told you.

And they go away and the pestering with the letters keeps coming. Not really bothered.

I just went full Monty Python on them at the last place. Through the letterbok.

"Hi, I'm from TV licencing."

"We already go one, is very nice... *whispers as if to friend* I told him we already got one.".

They went away. They should have known when they saw the name on their database was Mr Z. Beeblebrox (the name I used for the last TV licence I bought).

When I first moved into that house, I was totally skint after 5 years at uni so I got a black and white telly with a tuning knob for £15 and a B&W licence. They didn't like that either.

We are all robbed monthly, if only because our taxes are spent inefficiently, or on things we wouldnt choose to spend them on personally. I'm used to that and made my resigned acceptance of it a long time ago.

My primary objection to TVL is that they imply its a fee for a specific use of equipment and then badger and bully anyone who decides not to use the service into paying regardless.

I don’t like paying it, but I do pay it - I watch BBC.

However- I don’t care that others don’t pay even if they do watch.

It won’t change my price them paying

You have some interesting ideas, those who feel like they can get away with not paying but watch live TV/iPlayer don’t bother me. People won’t stop paying. The masses (myself included) are sheep and just want an easy life.

If someone has the balls that I don’t to mug the system off... fair play to them.

If enough people stop paying they'd have to go it alone commercially like every other broadcaster. They're a relic. Unless you really like Strictly or Songs of Praise I doubt most people would miss them.

Not to mention all the radio I listen to in the car on way to and from work.

One of the best broadcasters.

Yeah, if enough people stop paying tax, maybe the government can fund the country through commercial adverts too.

Or they'll just tax something else to make up for it.

Yeah, because taxing something else when people stop paying tax will work won't it Trigger?!

Are you on drugs or just thick?

Yeah, because everyone stopped paying VAT when they 'temporarily' increased that didn't they?

Much like the talk of tax on e-cigs, because revenue from real fags dropped.

Much like they banged up fuel duty for years on end.

Much like 'road tax' doesn't pay for the roads.

Much like your council tax still rises, but services are cut.

With eyes like pissholes in the snow like you got buttercup, I'm surprised at just what you can't see.
