Someone's nicked the headstock with the twirly bits that tighten the strings.

Take it back!

Looks like someone's taken a bite out of both ends but I like it. Are the angled frets a stylistic thing or do they help with tuning, I wonder. How much?

its to do with the length of the string and more natural positioning for your fingers as you go up the neck
and allow you to tune higher than normal
I'm surprised and grateful he didn't buy the 7 string version he wanted
I can't get my head around his 7 & 8 string guitars esp as they are normally detuned or some weird tuning Laughing

he paid 1600 quid for it

I once spent best part of 4k on a guitar.

I then had one which was half the price, but set up perfectly by a luthier here.

I also bought a used one in a showroom with a chip on the back for £550.

Guess which one plays, sounds and generally is the best.

Anything more than about 5-600, unless you are actively gigging around the world and require a specific one, then you are throwing money away.

I did my first real big gig with a 10inch laptop, a USB interface into a 50w solid state amp, all whilst running a low end 7 string. The comments about the sound were astounding. Any old shit can sound good. 1600 to me now is an absolute waste to spend on a guitar. Laughing I have 1, 7 string, it does any tuning, it can play pretty much any form of music and it cost 500... I don't even use an amp anymore because that game is now dead. Smile

Fanned-fretboard....never tried one.
The world needs more interesting guitar shapes (as does the bike world). As for guitar prices..well they've shot up recently so it's scuppering plans for my next purchase.

Was in Colwyn Bay last week and tried a few custom shop gibsons..were they worth £4,700 compared to the £999 epiphones...not a massive difference when A-B'd. Both setup using the plex machine so intonation and action similar. Law of diminishing returns isn't it. I could've swapped out the epiphone pickups and electrics and upgraded the tuners and had an excellent playing instrument..... Shhh! but I would always hanker for the Bees-Knees Custom Shop Special.

Currency aside, it's a great time to buy a guitar. I own several made in China/Indonesia guitars and they are brilliant. I adore my Eastwood K200 but it will never be a PRS.

Paddy. is right any old shit can sound good, but the good can sound great...which nobody but the player and a few saddos will appreciate.
I'd say the amp game is very much alive, as are microphones, cabs and pedals. New technology allowing stable long life micro-valves(tubes)..etc.

Play music people, it's a good time to be alive.

Yeah nice guitar mate. Smile

I've had one amazing amp, my live setup was a 6505 with a SoCal amp loaded with 2x v30 on left and eminence on the right, switchable to join both or mix either, they only tend to mic one anyway.

For me, that was all I needed. Now however, I can emulate absolutely anything in about 5 seconds. AxeFX2 does everything.

Ok so I just checked out the true temperament and it looks interesting.
Still has the characteristics of a standard fretboard i.e finger pressure will alter tuning, but yeah would like to try one.

My move....
My electric guitar, no pickups.

TBH it is expensive but it really suits his style of playing, he did think about the 7 string version
but he already has a 7 and 8 string guitars for his other band as well as my strat Evil or Very Mad

I paid £750 for my candy apple red nitro neck strat (67 re issue)
but most of my other guitars (and there is a lot of them) were under £500
